A captivating and immersive role-playing game! The intriguing story and detailed characters drew me in completely. Highly recommended for RPG enthusiasts!

Frustrating but addictive

The Few has a genuinely compelling core loop — juggling radar placement, AA guns, factory production, and squadron management while watching your budget drain is tense and satisfying in a way that kept me hooked through the first several in-game days. The tactical combat has its moments too, especially once you learn to abuse the pause button and manually hit the bail-out command before your pilots go down over the Channel. But the cracks show fast: you're capped at 8 planes per engagement no matter how many squadrons you've built up, which means watching 20+ German bombers and escorts pour in and feeling completely helpless against the numbers. After a few days the fights start blending together — same enemy compositions, same micro, same frantic clicking — and with the developers seemingly having gone quiet with no updates in years, there's little hope the rough edges will ever get smoothed out. At a few dollars on sale it's worth a curious afternoon if you're a Battle of Britain enthusiast, but the repetition and abandoned state make it hard to recommend at full price.

You are told in the tutorial about how you should try to preserve your pilots' lives, but when enemies come in large formations you are only allowed to throw them in one squadron at a time, despite being able to scramble multiple and have them converge in unison, you can only take 8 into battle, inevitably suffer losses, and throw another squadron in only after the first is done... The roster of planes available to you also only consists of two (Spit and Hurricane, obviously) which is underwhelming.
