The Last Elixir

Short but sweet and utterly fascinating. This one hits that sweet spot of what I'm looking for when I say "I want to play an alchemy game". The atmosphere created by the graphics and patrons and the bits of dialogue giving me hints towards what was going on beyond the door kept me really engaged, and that can be difficult when designing a game with only a single scene. By far my favorite out of all the alchemy themed games I've played so far. I really hope I can find more stuff like this!

Short little game, perfect for when you have somewhere between 30 - 90 minutes that you want to kill. 7/10 SOME SPOILERS AHEAD Positives: Nice puzzles that don't require too much thought, but still feel good when you figure them out. The art style is nice and suits the game well. The soundtrack - which is more ambience than actual music - helps set the mood without being too eerie, preventing it from turning into a horror game. Its a small game, with only a limited number of potions and ingredients, so you never feel overwhelmed like you sometimes do in larger games. Controls are fairly intuitive. Since even my potato-in-a-tin-case laptop can run it flawlessly, that means you could probably play this game on a GameBoy if you wanted to. Negatives: The physics can be a little frustrating (although it's not too bad), so I wouldnt recommend it if you've had a bad day and want a stress-free game to unwind. Despite the name and concept, it is very much a linear puzzle-based game with a little lore; do not go into this game expecting to be playing around or experimenting with a lot of potion making. It's not a bad game, my playthrough would've been shorter and I think it's a good stepping stone to making better or more games. However the riddles had me way too confused for most of it. The last night even got bugged for me and I had to restart the night (It said one of everything, I did so and it didn't complete the final night). The light potions were very damn annoying sorry to say. Cool idea but was just annoying. And some of the time I would be close to making the potion but 1 extra stir because my reflexes ain't super speed and now I gotta restart my creation once again. UGH. My only other complaint is calling things like your second ingredient visoctriy (idk for the life of me) instead of just idk, "Slime ball with eyes" or something like that. Only reason I understood that was because of a different note or formula kinda describing it not having a soul or bones or something. I enjoy the spiders and characters (Except the very bright a** red eye oh my god just made my job 10x harder because I couldn't see). And as I just said, not a bad game but I wouldn't recommend it because it was too confusing and annoying to play after the simple ones like fizzy boy.

Short and sweet game, very fun, let me live out my dreams of being an alchemist. 100% recommend, especially since it's free.

The game is creative and fun, a little confusing at times, but that's what makes it a puzzle game! The only real issue I had was at the end of the game, and a few minor bugs being unable to place things under the faucet (dunno why), The final potion lowkey expects you to toss aside everything you learned in the game in ALMOST every aspect. So I actually had to look up how to brew the last potion. Otherwise the game is solid and I wish it had an endless mode, where I just keep making potions for different customers. Very nice story!

This is a very good game, and with the fact that it's free, I would recommend everyone give it a go. None of the puzzles are particularly hard, but the mechanics can be a little fiddly, meaning it can still be quite challenging. The game is short, but that also means it does not become repetitive or frustrating. Give it a go!
