A little bit overwhelming at first, but with time, everything gets into its place. It is basically an elixir-creating, problem-solving puzzle game with one of the better elixir-making minigames so far.2 found this helpful
A very enthralling dark fantasy game. There's nothing else quite like it. Feels oddly like a cozy crafting/farming sim. You play as an old man that experiments on himself with potions. The results are usually punishing and disastrous. There is a logic here about why certain potion combinations lead to certain outcomes but it's also confusing in an intriguing and forgivable way. I found myself learning more about what the game wants me to do just from playing and being open to its mysteries. You're provided a stream of people to use potions on. It's satisfying to attend to their needs but not very rewarding. The potion-making controls seem finicky at first but I was hooked into the strangely hypnotic grind of it quickly. I was delighted by each new and noticeable change within the otherwise dour atmosphere. These occur due to successful experiments that change dominant elements. Light potions will result in the main character being able to see more easily and see streaks of light. Some dark potions will result in mildly horrific oddities scattered around the otherwise lonely house. While this game feels like it's small in explorable scope, the uniqueness makes up for that. Elixir is a slow burn but fun experience. There's a lot of direction which helps the player with discovering how to do things. I enjoyed playing and trying to solve saving the souls. Would recommend for anyone who likes to explore and have a laid back experience.1 found this helpful
🔮🧪 "Step into the shoes of an ancient alchemist in Elixir, where puzzles, lost souls, and mysterious potions are all part of the job. Mix, experiment, and maybe accidentally turn yourself into something unholy—who knows? It’s a dark, brain-teasing journey full of secrets waiting to be unearthed." 🕵️♂️✨ ⭐ 5/5 — Highly recommend! If you love strategic puzzles with a mystical, eerie twist, this one’s a gem. 🏺🧙♂️ 👉 Check it out here: https://youtu.be/40GU3vTVEaA
It's a very decent puzzle game, where you learn as you go on. There is a certain depth to it, which forces you to experiment so that you can progress. By my second death, I already begun to understand what I was supposed to be doing. So, it's not like the hidden mechanics are nearly impossible to understand. It is very fun to learn new things and each new potion always gives you the feeling of progress, even if their ability is utterly useless. My only complaint is that the whole "saving lost souls" mechanic just ends up becoming a nuisance to fill time, with you having to stop what you are doing to cure them. The game later on gives you a lot of things to remove that nuisance entirely. So by end of the game, you are going to waste 20 seconds healing them instead of 2 min. Which, although it made me feel rewarded for having made the effort to plan ahead, it does contribute to the feeling that the whole mechanic of healing them was nothing more than an extra to give you a "false" sense of urgency. The game also has a few visual bugs, lags sometimes and nearly crashed once, but nothing that ruined my experience. 7.5/10 - Buy it if you like turning rats into magical smoke.
Great minigame, for a larger, better full game. Hopefully the devs of this use the worldbuilding they had in this little game and make it into an actual rpg. But its current state, I dont find it fun because theres not much going on. Make potions. Thats it.
