About The Lost King of Avallon

The Lost King of Avallon is a challenging turn-based rogue-lite RPG set in a medieval setting. The open world will allow you to do what you want and even be who you want: knight, paladin, hunter, thief, mage, elemental, demon, angel ...

You have to assemble a team of heroes, where each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, as well as find a clue to the strange story that happened to the missing king of Avallon.
  • 12 playable classes: paladin, knight, cleric, hunter, thief, mage, shaman, cultist, dark knight, elemental, demon, angel.*
  • 7 unique perks for each class.
  • Team RPG - gather a team of 4 brave adventurers.
  • Open world. Move wherever you want, an 8,000 square mile procedurally generated island at your fingertips.
  • Make alliances with lords or go to war with them. After all, 4 heroes can defeat an entire army, right?
  • Unique turn-based combat system.
  • 50+ different monsters.
  • Magic, illusion and the simple power of persuasion will allow you to avoid conflict if you don't want to.
  • 4 fundamentally different endings of the main plot, as well as 20+ options for the development of the story.
  • Replayability - your story never repeats itself.
  • You can rob caravans!

Act, Avallon has long been waiting for its hero, who will restore peace and order ... or maybe plunge the country into chaos and devastation. You decide!

* At the start of the game, only three classes will be available to you: knight, paladin and hunter. The rest of the classes will become available after completing the game quests, and then, when your hero dies (and they will certainly die someday), you can continue playing with a character of another class.

Last update was March 2nd and no forum responses. Crashes to desktop happen inside dungeons but also on the world map. Unless "something" happens, stay away from this one. There are other open world turn-based combat games out there. Will edit accordingly.

It pains me to give this game a negative review as I love these sort of old style indie rpg's that have tactical turn based combat. But there are two major problems. 1. The game appears to be abandoned and..... 2. The game constantly crashes in dungeons. many players have posted about these game crashes. Because you are only able to save before entering a dungeon and not while in a dungeon, you lose all your experience and items when you get a crash. This just leads to a game that is simply frustrating, and not fun to play. If the game ever gets patched it may well be worth your money, but at this stage DO NOT BUY. You have been warned.

Yes. it is true that this game is sadly abandoned but to tell the truth it is still really really fun. I tried the demo and got hooked so I decided to get the game nevertheless and I am not sorry for a bit. The game is rough along the edges, there could have been much more variety and I do encounter once in a while a crush in a dungeon (annoying but not game breaking) - but it is very addictive and satisfying as a simple open world indie RPG sandbox. I would not buy it at full price but definitely recommend it at a discount. There is good amount of content here to enjoy.

Game is somehow both obtuse and shallow? Combat feels flat & samey, character progression is very uninspired, the world feels empty, and there honestly isn't much to do, or much worth doing. If the moment to moment gameplay isn't engaging, and progression is boring, and the world is clunky and flat, there isn't really anything there. To be honest, I played this a while ago, and I refunded it shortly after buying it. I'm only leaving a review now because it just came back up in my steam queue, and I had totally forgotten that I had played it. It is early access, and I get what the devs are going for I guess. Here's hoping it turns into a brilliant open world adventure. I'll check back in a year and change my review if it seems like the many problems I had with the game had been fixed.
