The Merchant Memoirs

Nope. Text is childish. Story is straight, boring and not interesting at all. No choices, just reading. The end chopped off.

This is a story about a merchant who died and for some screw up with his guardian angel went back in time when he was a 20 year old and now has a second chance in life. Now the premise itself it quite interesting but the plot is so rushed, so short, no world building, no attempt to make us care or explain the characters, nada. It just jumps from one scene to another and then boom, end. Basically it's not even worth it with a discount, just get it with a bundle if you're interested.

In Visual Novels story (and characters) is almost all that matters. And this one was just boring and pointless. If New Game+ should improve this, then I don't understand the whole New Game+ decision at all because the game completely failed to motivate me for another playthrough.

They did poor job with skip button. New game + is the same as first route in 50% but you can't skip it. That artificially extended game duration for about 30 minutes (for me at least - I needed to check whether I've seen it already + I'm a slow reader). Visual side was quite ok and music was there (won't remember it tomorrow but it didn't cause my ears to bleed either). Story was a little bit rushed - and you can feel it. Especially with first ending, where game seems to be prety much chopped off. In new game + there is proper ending at least. Can I reccomend it? Maybe not for full price - but when discounted it's cheaper than pack of potato chips. And I don't regret spending 3 hours with it.

Good game, but I can hardly understand the plot. :-(

Sad waste of an interesting premise... Despite being so short it was a slog to get through. Spends way too long on an absolute jerk of a protagonist blabbering on about blempyblomp trade sanctions in flimbleflorp, and then actual plot events get one sentence. Within three text boxes I'd remarried my wife, spent months with her then found out she became evil entirely offscreen. THEN IT JUST ENDS Then you have (I kid you not) go play new game plus in a heckin kinetic novel. Play through the same unchanging choiceless story again, because the skip button doesn't work. Now, for no logical reason, saving an unrelated person's life at the start of the game means your wife reveals her evilness earlier, and you can get the good ending. Which is just one sentence that you married the angel instead, and had a child. At no point in the game does your protagonist ever remember he had children with the other wife in his other life, or express any concern he just retconned them out of existance for someone else. Happy unresolved questions, and to all a good night!
