About The Ruin Wanderer

The sun shines high in the sky. You arrive at a ruin in the desert, with only the vague promise of a priceless historical artefact hidden inside. Before you reach it, many dangers must be overcome. Can you find a path through this abandoned structure without losing your head? The Ruin Wanderer is a small episodic homage to the classic female archeologist simulators from the 90's. It focuses on exploration and light puzzle solving in beautifully desolate environments. Above all else, it is about atmosphere; just you, the silent ruins of a long gone civilization, and here and there a swinging blade or spike pit to watch out for.

CONTAINS:

 • One 15-30 minute level (with two more planned for the future)
 • No combat or dialogue, just a calm atmosphere
 • A ruin with many traps and secrets to explore
 • Walk, climb, roll, shimmy, balance, crouch and/or crawl your way around
 • Full controller support
 • Steam Cloud Save support
 • 60 fps on Steam Deck

A short, but fun exploration and traversal based love letter to everyone's favorite British raider of tombs. Really atmospheric, and I loved the addition of secrets.
Honest Trailers Parody:
[TRAILER VOICE] From the indie developer who looked at a modern, high-end graphics card and said, "No thanks, I prefer my polygons smooth, flat, and entirely untextured," comes a quiet, cozy, existential crisis wrapped in a desert vacation. Prepare to experience the ultimate sensation of absolute, overwhelming déjà vu. Step into the boots of a completely original, independent female archaeologist wearing a totally distinct tight tank top, long pants, and combat boots. Travel to a mysterious, ancient desert tomb filled with swinging blades, sudden spike pits, and climbing ledges that feel remarkably familiar—like a core memory from 1996 that has been scrubbed completely clean of pixelated textures, filtered through a minimalist aesthetic, blessed with modern, buttery-smooth 60 fps lighting, and completely stripped of audio until you mess with your Windows Volume Mixer. It is a world of pure, solitary isolation. A place so quiet, so beautifully desolate, and so liminal that you will spend half your time soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, and the other half wondering if you accidentally booted up a highly polished, premium tech demo. The Ruin Wanderer looks, feels, and plays like a tribute to a certain classic adventure series. Although, it’s certainly a departure from Hedgefield’s more mood and narrative driven games, mechanics and functionality are well done here.

Fun little adventure romp. Would like to see this as a 2-3 hour game. Recommend.

A fun little excursion into an ancient tomb with a familiar protagonist! It's got a solid adventure atmosphere, nice level design, and is surprisingly polished for the small scope. Looking forward to the next romp!
