games to touch the mind and body and soul so sweet .. i really fancy this and wish we carved out a bigger space for games like this in the world, really lovely themes around disability and inclusion1 found this helpful
Not sure who this is for. I imagine most children would find this too slow and boring to keep playing. But the plot is so aimless and childish that can't see anyone older getting anything out of this. The game looks nice but performs poorly with some seemingly uncomplicated areas dropping below 60fps. Odd fixed camera make navigating a pain. "Being a T" isn't interesting and the developers struggle to find reasons to use it other than "long spoon" and spinning to collect useless coins. It fails to justify itself as a game outside of a few simple minigames.1 found this helpful
What a joyful and creaitve game
I didn't know what to expect when I first discovered To a T. I didn't even know that it existed until this month as it was the game of the month for Slow Games. And it isn't a bad time. The game is setup like an anime as it has an intro and outro song. There are 8 episodes of varying length that follows Teen (or however you name them) and their dog, Dog (you get to name him as well). The story follows Teen as they learn to navigate being 13 and as a kid who always has their arms stretched out. The game is a good allegory for disability and recognizing how one's differences don't diminish their worth. It's easy to argue that the game's moral is a little too strong. The gameplay is more narrative based, with the control sticks occasionally filling in more context heavy roles. There are some mini-games to play for achievements. However, I didn't really feel inspired too much to leave the plot behind and go exploring or engage the mini-games. What I played seemed to feel right. I just didn't like I had enough fun to replay them. Plus, the episodic nature of the game made it really easy to pickup and drop and repickup. Graphically, the game looks rather solid to look at.
