To Tell the Truth

Thanks for the laugh (but not for the right reasons) I preface this review by saying I LOVE FMV games. This one is technically sound enough... but EXTREMELY disappointing. Like other low level FMV investigation games you enter search terms to find video clips, and from those you discover new search terms to keep the investigation going until you figure out what happened. However, almost every video is the character complaining about paying bills, being inept at their job, or other 'on the nose' information that is spoken out loud in a clearly ad-libbed performance. The amount of repetition from this style of performance was painful, as nothing is succinct or nuanced. The character talks out loud ALL of their thoughts as though they were vlogging, even though they're meant to be alone. It's difficult to buy into this premise - but was very enjoyable to have a giggle at. Who talks out loud all of their thoughts like this? To make matters worse, most clips take place in the character's bedroom, which is messy, distracting and overall - confusing. Is this the bedroom of someone with a girlfriend? We thought the many items may offer clues to the mystery, but they are just ill thou…

Decent but uneventful indie FMV where you watch clips recorded by a laptop. I always found FMV games fun. They were everywhere in the old days, and also in almost every genre you can think off. Despite the fact that the video quality improved, it quickly became a mechanic that did not last. Today, these games are uncommon. You can't put them in games anymore since they require a highly specific genre and gameplay mechanic. The most common is a mystery/detective title in which you watch clips from someone's life by entering key words. This one is exactly like that. You take the role of an investigator who uses a special software to find out what’s been going on with one person. While watching a single person fits the premise, it’s not exactly exciting. This is a common problem with a lot of indie FMV games because they just don’t have the budget to hire a bunch of actors and create huge sets. Anyway, the game takes place on a basic computer screen. When you type keywords into the search bar, the game displays video clips that are relevant to your query. Each clip is labeled with a date, so you know exactly where it occurs in the timeline. If you want to watch a fat fck who doesn't know how to take care of himself, this game is for you! The whole game is a one-man show. It isn't funny or interesting, max, it is so bad, you can't lookaway kind. Guy speaks to the phone or to himself. The end. I really worry about this guy. The room looks like an outtake from Horders. I thought it was just for show, but I saw the extras, and it is all real. OMG. Please wake up and get yourself together!

I'm deceived. The story is really short and could really been more developped. You can finish it in one hour max. I feel like it was more of a demo than a finished story. It's not worth buying it at this price but at a discount it's a little interesting experiment. We want more from you mister developper !
