About Contradiction: Spot The Liar
✦ AI summary
Interview suspects in this live-action murder mystery where you freely explore crime scenes, collect evidence, and grill characters until you catch them in contradictions. It blends the interactivity of a 3D game with full-motion video performances, playing smoothly whether you're solo or gathering friends around a TV to spot the lies together.
Contradiction is a unique adventure / murder mystery game that uses live-action video for the entirety of the game play. All you have to do is interview characters, spot their lies and catch them out!
Contradiction is a brand new take on the concept of an interactive movie and brings the genre to a whole new level of playability. It plays as smoothly as a 3D graphic game. You can wander freely around the game environment, collecting evidence and witnessing constantly changing events.
But the game is all about interviewing the characters you meet, questioning them about all the evidence you’ve collected and things you’ve seen, then spotting contradictions in their answers. Pair two contradictions together and watch them try to worm out of it!
Works best plugged into a TV preferably with a bunch of people to help spot the lies - but can be played alone on your laptop or PC just fine!
The legacy version of the game with French subtitles by Pierre-Laurent Batut is also available for download on a Beta branch, again instructions are pinned to the top of the discussions forum.

Incredibly charmed by just how much all actors seem to be into their roles, especially the one playing the main character. Their collective zeal is what really had me hooked. I wasn't a fan of how the game tried to swerve into the occult territory (not really my thing, I prefer realistic and entirely explicable mysteries), but I ended ul really satisfied with the final resolution. This was a blast to play.1 found this helpful
Contradiction is a Full Motion Video Detective game set in small village in Britain. You play as a detective looking into the death of a University student, who was found drowned in a lake. You are sent there to determine if it was a suicide or murderer. This Review will be spoiler free (as I can’t lie, it’s been a while and I can’t remember all the details). I came to this game after playing “At Dead of Night”, and was curious how good the story would be in this game. I was pleasantly surprised by the game. I liked the Live action cut scenes in the game, and being able to interview was quite fun. I think a lot of the clues in the game are obvious, and the rest can be done through trial and error by asking everyone a question about every item you have collected. I tried playing through the whole game without having to google answers, but I won’t lie, some clues are very difficult to logically connect two and two together. I think in my 6 hour playthrough of the game, I had to google the solution to a certain problem 3-4 times, which isn’t to bad. I had to do the same thing with “At Dead of Night” so it’s not unique to this game. I will say, I did notice the detective did k…
Fun, unique FMV + Point & Click style murder mystery game. Really enjoyed the story & quirks of it, and the characters felt well developed
captivating, but gets a bit too wacky towards the end, which might be a good thing, haven't finished it yet. p.s. unfortunately you can't cross examine the witnesses so all contradiction must come from the same person which is a little limiting
Loved this game! I want to play more!!
This game is excellent. I personally came from At Dead of Night because I wanted more like it, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. A lot of my praise from that game applies to Contradiction as well. It looks great, great sound design, and the mystery had me hooked the entire time. The contradiction system really had me feeling like a detective, too. The actors are great here. The protagonist is very over the top and fun to listen too, and everyone else really feels like they've all got something to hide. Definitely recommend this game if you like mysteries, or if you want something similar to ADoN. It's crazy good for an experimental project on a tight budget.
