- Retro visual style prioritizes clarity during gameplay rather than visually overloading the player.
- Co-op players touch each other to pool and share their combined health.
- Unique cross-fire mechanic. Co-op players can cross their laser sights to inflict explosion damage on enemies.

Players praise this arcade-style action shooter for its fun, fast-paced gameplay, unique top-down perspective with jumping mechanics, and excellent local co-op experience that's great for playing with friends and family. The game has improved significantly with updates, featuring good weapon variety, challenging difficulty levels, randomized level layouts for replay value, and an impressive soundtrack, though some note the graphics are rough around the edges and the lack of online multiplayer limits accessibility for solo players.
After playing this game for a few hrs I had to write a review as this is very fun. GAMEPLAY This game has a unique top down gameplay where you jump up obstacles and fall instead of just running. There are two game modes, you can fight other players or against robots. Fighting other players is really funny at times and it's fast. The main idea of the game is that it is local co-op which makes it great to play with friends and family (I highly recommend playing in multiplayer if possible as it's only split screen and no online play!). Plus you can it play it by yourself, which isn't as fun, but the bot arenas are quite challenging. GRAPHICS I personally don't mind the graphics, but some won't be happy with it (I care more about the gameplay). Also I have found that having really good graphics in split screen games needs a better graphics card. so they have actually done pretty well. Sometimes I see two walls glitching through each other but normally I don't even notice as I get too distracted by the battles. SOUND / MUSIC The sounds in this are great, but they're really loud! And I absolutely love the music style and hope whoever made it gets some kind of award. I'd recommend keep…5 found this helpful
This will be a brief writeup [Updated for V1.9] Been a longtime fan of the dev Rob Ager's work in other mediums, and now games Arcade style twin-stick shooter The game is in a great place with update 1.9 I have little to say, except that if it looks interesting to you from the trailers: PLAY IT Game is fun, and has only gotten better with each update Some particular highlights to me from the most recent updates - game is starting to have fantastic visual variety and complexity, now with the randomized enemy appearances. Additionally, some of the enemies are very well animated. This game is becoming quite cool to look at - rough around the edges in places - but it's starting to have a very unique visual style all its own, that I can't say I really see anywhere else - the Alt-Fire mode on the Pistol, with the slow moving bullet that tracks your aim, allowing you to shoot around corners, is a real highlight among the weapons. Almost could be a tool for some light puzzle solving - the combat arena The Black Hole is probably the most visually interesting map, with the extreme contrast of darkness and light sources - a part of me hopes every level will get a Dark version, because it ju…4 found this helpful
the game is SO fun! played it with my 10yo son and we had a blast. Another thing I really liked about it was the original music. hope the soundtrack will be available for download sometime.3 found this helpful
8.5 / 10 (early access - Nov 2025 update) GOODS --- Quite a challenge on Single Player (I’ve beaten only three levels on Nightmare Mode, and they were quite tough). And when the game is at its best, it’s fast paced and frenetic like with the best DOOM levels. I've beaten a number of levels on Hard Mode. --- Lots of good unusual weapons, the top down third person perspective allows these weapons to be used more strategically than a FPS game would. And having hoverboards that hook up with tank like objects is pretty cool. --- Area layout randomisation, which adds a lot to replay value and adds to the challenge. And there is a variety of level design, some areas emphasise on verticality, and some are grounded spatial maps. --- Marvellous electronica soundtrack, so much better than the vast majority of modern movie and game soundtracks. And it has some good sound effects. --- Some lovely visuals. Very retro with a colourful digital edge. --- Some unusual environmental features such as the area with one way walls. --- Two player co-op and PvP modes are good fun. MIXED FEELINGS --- It is better suited for controllers (I use a PS4 controller), and having played with keyboard and mouse, i…3 found this helpful
From Rob Ager of Collative Learning, To the Death is a great little arena shooter? Isometric action shooter? Not sure how exactly you describe this but it's pretty fun! I hadn't played in over a month, basically since day one release, and on D1 it played okay on steam deck with some graphical weirdness but now its smooth as butter! Looks great, plays great, the arenas now have drone and mech neutral enemies that attack everyone...at least I think it attacks the bot ones. I don't have many friends for co-op but gonna buy a copy for a buddy so its not just me vs bots. for single player, its what I call a great "pick it up put it down" game. meaning if you want to just play a quick game while doing something, especially if you have a steam deck, its perfect because a match lasts just a few minutes. I've never joined a game so early in its process before I was downright flabbergasted how much better it already is after just a few patches. If you're into movies or are fans of the Red Letter Media youtube channel, highly recommend Collative Learning and Rob Ager's film analysis as its the best there is, except when it comes to music. He just doesn't get some music but thats okay lol1 found this helpful
