TOHU

TOHU is a short and beautiful Classic point & click game. Made by Polish indie devs, this brief but atmospheric puzzle adventure excels at their hand-drawn visuals but unfortunately is dragged down a bit by its tedious puzzles. The world tries to blend the whimsical biological fish "planets" with technology, while it gives it an interesting look, it looses the fish planet thread. While it still plays an overarching role to the narrative and the lesson of the story, I still wish it would have at least tried to approach it like the "SAMOROST" games. The maps are charming, just like a picture book. If you liked "Machinarium" or "Creaks", the attention to detail will remind you of that, if not the rustic artstyle. The soundtrack is applauded, which didn't really bother me, so I guess it was fine. The game chooses to be all cutesy and children-oriented, the whimsy is used as a shield to hide the erroneous decisions behind. TOHU is a beautifully illustrated point-and-click adventure that places imagination, environmental storytelling, and puzzle solving at the center of the experience. Developed and published by Fireart Games, it follows a young girl living within an extraordinary universe composed of enormous fish planets. Her peaceful existence is disrupted when a mysterious figure damages the Sacred Engine, an important mechanism connected to the survival of her world. Accompanied by her mechanical alter ego, Cubus, she travels through a collection of increasingly strange locations in search of answers and a way to repair what has been broken. The game's strongest quality is undoubtedly its artistic direction. Its environments resemble elaborate hand-painted illustrations filled with tiny mechanical details, unusual vegetation, bizarre architecture, and eccentric creatures. Practically every location contains something interesting to examine, and the backgrounds often communicate as much personality as the characters themselves. The concept of civilizations existing on fish-shaped planets gives the artists enormous creative freedom, resulting in environments where machines and organic life coexist…

7/10 Honestly it is a very whimsical ride for the 5 Hours you get out of it. There are actual puzzles to solve some not so hard, some more like mini games, and those 8 object of screen-change #3 and #7 and #8 move(I hate these puzzles lol) Overall I wish it could have focused on these fish planets more and maybe a better story of why I just have a mystical cube man body guard. This is a point and click with a few puzzles sprinkled in so if you're feeling like leaning back and just using a mouse then by all means this is a good short one.

It's really pretty and fun. I am quite sensitive, so I found audio and visuals overwhelming sometimes - but not enough not to recommend it!

I found this game rather tedious. While the art is cute and well done, I found it difficult to follow, often requiring a guide to even understand what needed to be done or what was expected.

This was such an oddball of a game! Everything is so weird and unexplained, the devs clearly having a blast making so many bizarre locations and creatures and things! So much of this game's charm was the world, and how fantastical and unique it was. It really made for a one-of-a-kind experience and I love that style of worldbuilding so much!! Despite how unpredictable the world was, the puzzles felt fairly grounded or at least never felt like too big of a leap in logic! A few difficult ones here and there but nothing too hard! Plus it has a lovely artstyle, a fun silent narrative and pretty music! Great game!!
