Tonks

Tonks is a really simple multiplayer tank game, but I think the strange setting gives it enough personality to make it stand out. I am driving a small tank through huge 3D mazes made from glass pipes in space, trying to find the other tanks and blow them up. There is not much to learn before I can start playing, which I actually like because the game gets straight to the fighting without burying me under loads of rules. The maze design is probably my favourite part. The maps are randomly generated, so I cannot simply memorise one route and use it every time. I have to drive around looking for other players while also trying not to get caught myself. The glass pipe setting looks unusual and gives the matches a different feeling from a normal tank arena. I like the idea of being able to disappear around corners and suddenly run into another tank when I was not expecting it. The shooting is very basic, but it works for the type of game this is. Hitting another tank gives me points and helps improve my rank during the match, so there is a clear reason to keep looking for fights. Tonks is a great experience for anyone wanting to not play a tank game, but rather wants to drive off a cliff multiple times.

Interesting concept, lot of loading issues on deaths, randomly blowup when no one shot near you, navigating tubes is a bit difficult. Interested to see it developed.
