Tony Hawk's™ Pro Skater™ 3 + 4

I feel zero nostalgia when I play this remake... I am going to hide it in my steam library and emulate the original games.

Cards on the table, I really don't care about the visual facelift. To me, the 1+2 remake is worth playing because it brings the game feel of the later games in the series to the levels from the first two games. With 3+4, I'd rather just play the originals in an emulator. I knew going in that they'd reworked and cut down the fourth game to such a degree that calling it a "remake" is tantamount to false advertising, but I was willing to give it a shot on its own merits. These levels that were originally designed for free-roam mission hub style gameplay just don't work well with the 2 minute goal rush format from the first three games, and the three new levels added to compensate for the cut ones aren't doing it for me either. Not a fan of the water park, the movie studio is forgettable and the pinball table is a fun idea in concept but not so fun to actually play. Also yeah, thumbs down for the repulsive-looking AI slop assets. And thumbs down for locking the Doom guy behind 20 dollar DLC when he was a free easter egg in the original game, and especially for still showing him on the character select GUI with a little shopping cart icon if you haven't bought it.

Game crashes as soon as I try to load a level. Doesn't matter what level. I have an extremely overpowered PC for this game. Bad code is making it impossible to play.

Excellent shot of nostalgia, loved revisiting the THPS3 parks and enjoying the THPS4 in a new way as well. I have slightly mixed feelings about them nixing the open world part of THPS4, but understand why it had to be done for cohesiveness reasons, it would've been too drastic a difference between the two halves. Hoping that they'll do something with the THUG series and American Wasteland as well.

The Difference between the 1+2 Remake and 3+4 is like Day and Night. 1+2 was bright, shiny and full of nostalgia. 3+4 was the bad brother. Basically a DLC sold for full price. I hope Activision will stop smoking crack. I really love Tony Hawk games, even if they are not super duper full of new stuff and ♥♥♥♥. This game had the mission to give people a good feeling of nostalgia but we got spit into the face while paying for it. I hope Activision goes bankrupt. GG.

Yeah, it's fun, but the THPS4 levels are okay if you've played the PlayStation 1 version. If you've played the PlayStation 2 version, you should think twice. I'd only buy it on sale, though.
