[後半に日本語レビューあり]
The definitive edition that “enhances” TriggerHeart’s story — Faintia joins with high-resolution narrative
Originating in arcades in 2006, TriggerHeart EXELICA is a vertical-scrolling STG known for its unique system of capturing enemies with the “Anchor Shot” and throwing them, as well as its variable difficulty system V.B.A.S. This PC edition ENHANCED follows the line of the PS2 version ENHANCED (2009) while being reconstructed for the modern era as a “story-focused definitive edition.” The most notable feature is the addition of Faintia as a playable ship. With her own laser-based attack design and a separated leaderboard, she opens up new possibilities for score research. Compared with the PS2 version, her implementation is slightly re-balanced. The Enhanced Story Mode has been completely refreshed, with about 70 event stills remastered into high resolution and now fully voiced in Japanese. The animated opening produced by P.A.WORKS and the theme song “Gravity Error” sung by Ayane are also included, making this version one that strongly emphasizes narrative. In terms of gameplay, the tactics of the Anchor Shot and the interplay with V.B.A.S. remain in…28 found this helpful
The shmup contains a rather fun and unique (relatively speaking) gimmick - you can "catch" enemies, and then either swing them around, use them as a shield, or have them explode into other enemies. The game's stages has a lot of different ways to utilize this gimmick, from frantic bullet hell to outright "puzzle" sections. This version will likely have the not-unwarranted stigma of being too similar to the other release of Triggerheart, by the same publisher no less. They erred (big time imo) by running a kickstarter for the other port (based off the Dreamcast original), and before that one had finished (but had reached its funding goal), announce a second crowdfunding campaign for this game, which is based off of the PS2 "Enhanced" port. A more savvy move (that would require more effort) would be to combine both into the ultimate package. This stunt naturally sours one on the greedy nature of small shmup publishers, but don't let that distract you from a good game. So what are the differences? The main differences for Enhanced are: -this includes an extra playable character, Faintear (your rival in the main game) -this includes a Story Mode with VN-style CG drawn scenes (versus…23 found this helpful

i love throwing enemies into other enemies, and it's great that this version lets me do that as much as i like without lowering the multiplier. if i could have chosen between this and the previous version also on steam, i would have chosen this one. very fun game edit: oh, also, the linux support was another reason why i wanted to get this game, but it runs very slowly on my ancient thinkpad x220 with linux. runs fine on the less-ancient t480 with windows at least1 found this helpful

I played this game a lot on the Xbox 360, and as far as I can tell, it is all here and accounted for. It's lovely to play again, and the anchor mechanic is super addictive and fun, and it sets it apart from the pack! I think the art is great, too. So overall this was a very positive experience. However, I have to point to a pretty big issue I was having. The sound was horrid. It was really crunchy and poorly balanced, shaking me out of my seat when I defeated an enemy. It wasn't pleasant at all. I tried playing with the Enhanced soundtrack as well as Arcade, and it didn't seem to make much difference when it came to the jarring sound effects. My ears might be playing tricks on me, but I swear the Enhanced soundtrack sounded really bad. The Arcade one was great. But the Enhanced one sounded too crunchy for me, like they accidentally supplanted a high bitrate soundtrack with a lower one meant for small files sent by email. I'm not an expert, so maybe the game's sound effects were this jarring in the Xbox Live Arcade version I've had by my side for all these years. I don't recall it being that way, though. Other than that sound issue, again, a wonderful time. One o…
