Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy

The fairy tale aesthetic is great as always, the new puzzle mechanics are fun and it's a great time with friends. A couple nitpicks: - too many puzzles have only 1 solution - characters sometimes vibrate while moving - skill cooldowns unnecessarily slow down progression - the skill tree tutorial won't go away if you don't go through it, and it reappears when you redo the level it first shows up in 100% achievement completion boils down to finishing a casual playthrough, backtracking for a collectathon and pulling off a couple challenging tricks. You're able to see exactly at which checkpoint in the level you missed something, so 100%ing this is easy and fun.

Me and my brother have played every Trine game together and loved it. Fantastic and always fun.

This feels like one of the best Trine entries, though admittedly it's been a while since I've played the previous games and my experience is limited to the single player. The puzzles are very clever and I almost never felt like I needed a hint to get through them. 80% of them are fairly simple and the remaining 20% I could just concentrate on them for a few minutes, try a couple different ideas, and then work out what needed to happen. You feel smart every time you solve that 20% and you realize there's some deeper complexity to the mechanics than you first thought. The background graphics are gorgeous and it has a wide variety of levels and ideas to explore. I only have 2 real complaints. First, there's really too many mechanics at this point. A new puzzle comes up and my biggest challenge is remembering how many different ways I have to lock an object in place. Second, the series is getting pretty lore heavy for a story I barely remember. The characters will be like "this object has a toy mouse on it, I know who this belongs to." I have no clue who you're talking about, my dude. Trine always delivers great fun, interesting content, amazing graphics and beautiful world, full of fine polished puzzles. I'm absolute fan since 1st part and I had so many joy (or more), as within Trine 1. Absolutely worth the price.

Tremendous value - by far the longest Trine game so far. Buggy at times, but we've had a ton of fun playing through so far!

Big fan of the Trine games, I have played the first 4 and always enjoyed them. Finally getting to play this Trine 5 in co-op, I've done all the previous ones in single player. They still keep coming up with really cool puzzles to solve with these three characters. The introduction to new abilities for each character as you progress through the campaign is very cool and you can spend points to unlock modifications for them. None are needed and mostly change up how they work in combat. Boss fights are pretty cool, but the puzzles/platforming is the real star here as always and it does it well. Around 4 hours in so far, around chapter 8 I think, and there was only 1 puzzle we got stuck on and had to look it up on YouTube mostly because we just didn't know something was possible to do. Figured everything else out so far and some of them are in ways that I'm not sure if it's how the devs intended, and those are always the coolest things I love with games like this and Portal when you do that. My only gripe with the game is that the camera sometimes gets in the way, like it follows the other player off in a direction and now I can't see a section on my end. I hope they can find a way…
