Truer than You

This game had a bigger effect on me than any other in a while. And on the first playthrough the effect wasn't even necessarily positive, but I kept playing because this just had so much power. And on later playthroughs the effect has been increasingly positive. The game puts you in many rather uncomfortable or even unethical situations, and that is by design, and also a really good thing. The romance routes work a lot better if you are (at least open to being fictionally) polyamorous. They are pretty alright. It's clever, it's engaging, it's powerful. If you can take being uncomfortable, this is a strong recommendation.

A thought-provoking game about the roles we play in society. Beautiful characters, with a nice blend of 90's aesthetics and pastel colors. Definitely recommended!

This is an astonishing game! I very much enjoyed my time being Rin, and through Rin being various other folks. I wasn't sure what to expect from this game, but it gripped me, and kept me entranced by the lives I saw and experienced. I felt a lot, in ways which surprised me. I've only played through once, but I feel I missed a lot by the choices I made, so I look forward to plunging into it in other ways to experience more, and maybe to hope more. Incidentally, this game came out on the same day as a game I made myself, which is why I was convinced I'd find some kinship with this, which I saw as a fraternal twin to my (very different) game. This turned out to be more relevant than I could have expected. An excellent work, but I wish it had lasted another month.

I think the strength of this game is the setting and narrative. The story unfolds based on your choices and I really got invested in the world, thanks to the compelling artstyle and music. The game is perfect to enjoy at the evening in a cozy place wrapped in a blanket, I played it on Asus ROG Ally and it worked fine. Sometimes I wished I had more choices and in the end of the game some of the stories came to a close very quickly or didn't really get a conclusion. But I have have only played it through once and then playing as "myself". In the next playthrough I will explore some of the choices I didn't make and see how the game unfolds. I think it will benefit from more play throughs t to get more perspecitves on any given situation. Would recommend the game if you like story heavy games with choices like, Detroit Become Human, the Telltale games or similar but in this game choices is the base so it is a more focused experience. Wonderful to have a shorter game as well!

This game has you manage and balance your own social needs, your professional obligations and the expectations of your clients in a job that tests the limits of existential bad faith. As you get used to playing someone playing someone else, it starts challenging you by placing you in uncomfortable high-stakes situations where the choice between professional distance, authenticity and compassion could mean hurting or helping someone, and caring or not caring could mean hurting or helping you. The overall presentation is great. Pastel colored art with expressive and bold color choices for the characters, It's not just fixed portraits over backgrounds, but a lot of situation-specific illustrations that go a long way toward making sure that the narrative and visuals never feel out of sync. The music is beautiful, carefully neutral in tone where it should be, and emotionally loaded where it fits the narrative, especially at the end. The writing is not too wordy, though without compromise in terms of conveying sensation and emotion. The interactive choices are frequent (and brilliantly treats waiting to think or listen as a choice in itself), so it rarely felt like I was just watching …
