Under Contract

First off, if of my steam friends sees this: no you didn't. Move on with your day. I will say the game actually isn't that bad, it's fun, and has a decent story; for what there is. There lies the problem though, it's an unfinished story; an unfinished game even. Now i understand the game is early access, and for that I would normally give some slack; however this game has not received any updates for almost 2 years (OCT 2024). Not even a post from the devs on what's going on or what problems caused the game production to halt. They have seemingly abandoned the game to work on new ones. I was really hopeful for this game it has a decent story, some good gameplay, slowly the animations start having less to them, then suddenly you can't go any further.

It's abandoned like many of this creators projects. Last update was 2 years ago. Stop supporting this creator, this game barely has half the content published. They have several games that are in the same state. P.S. Steam give us a developer review button or something.

Remember playing the initial release back in 2023 and enjoying it even with the limited amount of content there was. It was simple and easy enough to get the jist of the gameplay loop and it didn't overthink itself. Flash forward to 2026 and replaying this game again for the first time in 2 half years and nah. This is one of those rare instances where less is more probably worked better. Its great they added more levels to grind and a bunch of useless micro features and modes but in the end it just comes off as a whole lot of nothing because the core gameplay mechanic STILL SUCKS and is just not fun to play. Rounds either get tedious and take to long to finish or your auto curb stomped in 10 moves or less from ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ai opponents who are programed to know WTF their next move is before they make it. Don't touch this one unless its 90% or more off on sale, which is likely seeing as how the outside a rare update the game is already abandoned...

I love the core game. I was wondering what is this game type. I would actually be searching on Steam an didn't see games like it. Match 3 games isn't exactly this gameplay loop. All other games on steam play more like Candy Crush-style gameplay, which is genuinely terrible. So I was curious if there are other games that play pretty much exactly like this or fall into this genre. would love to "vs" player online at some point. pls help

Puns puns puns, I adore me some puns. Under Contract is filled to the bring with some peak puns; even if the puns are based around the personality traits of one of the characters. Even taking out the naughty content and extra time spent disappointing your family Under Contract has a solid game play loop. The game is based off of a connect three bubble pop whatever gameplay loop. While the main loop is simplistic I really appreciate how it gradually expands as you progress. There are a ton of different obstacles; such as blocks falling on you, certain blocks needing multiple ploppings to fianlly disappear, or annoying ass bubbles that ya gotta pop and prevent you from getting your combos in. It keeps the gameplay fresh and subsequently makes every new area far more difficult as ya progress. I do have greivances with the rate of story vs gameplay. Like I go through 30 minutes of story and tehn 1 hour of gameplay; I do think It could all be paced better so that you get a good balance of story then game play, but thats a hard balance to make. Even so Under COntract is a fun time and the simplicity of match 3 turning into a hell of puns and complications make this a great time.
