About Via Mortis
You are a soldier, drafted into the United Nation’s Anti-Demon Defensive initiative (ADDI). Tasked with capturing and hunting demons from a mysterious new world. This new world is highly dangerous and hostile demon like creatures within are planning a massive attack on the Earth and the mission is clear: save humanity at all costs. To do this, you need to kill the Demon Kings in this action packed, demon collecting, first-person dungeon crawler. You won’t start with much, but ADDI has provided some shielding technology:>Learn how to counter and reflect enemy attacksBut that isn’t enough, using shields alone would only allow you to survive. A soldier needs to capture and tame his own demons to thrive. Monstrum-Captio Cards can be bought for capturing demons.>Use Monstrum-Captio Cards in battle to capture enemy demons.>Put them in your party and train them to become stronger.>Sell them for some quick cash based on their EXP amount.>Purchase new and stronger demons from the ADDILearning to talk to friendly demons can allow for some new knowledge about how to fight and of the world itself.>Accept loads of side quests from friendly demons for new skills. This new world has lots of areas to explore and to get lost in. We have some reports of what is inside:>Lots of treasure to uncover and relics for the ADDI to analyze.>Demon strongholds with lots of demons guarding them. Our scanners are very shoddy, we require you to enter to learn more about them and to discover more. Now, back to your main objective: you must kill the demon kings.>Demon Kings are the massive bosses controlling the demons. We believe the demons worship them like Gods.>Become stronger to face them and to liberate the Demon kind from their hold. The assassination of the Demon Kings is a priority. Do whatever you need to do to kill them.I have gotten some special in-depth info about your journey:>8 dungeons in total.>NG+ Special bosses rush with new bosses to test your skills.>4 main endings with one bad ending and one true ending.>Average 8–10 hours of play time for each ending Soldier, I hate to say it, but you aren’t the first person to enter the other world with this information. You are just another soldier we have sent into the other world. If you can learn how to use the provided shields, capture and train demons, and learn more and more power, then you might be able to do what we are asking. Our expectations are high, but that is because humanity is on the line here. My scanning of you has made it seem that you might be strong enough to survive… Interesting… You might be the one we were looking for…..

One of the most baffling examples of how not to make an rpg, and a true shining gem that gives rpgmaker the reputation it has. Level design is just mazes and corridors. I hope you like getting lost in nausea inducing first person labrinyth setups because thats it for maps from what I've seen. Monster sprites are beautiful. Nothing quite like taking clip art and just coloring it a solid red or blue for 80% of creatures Story I barely gave a ♥♥♥♥ about, theres nothing there that grabs you even slightly as interesting. Combat is however the worse I've ever seen in a game ever. Regular mook enemies encounters vary between a single enemy that you and your collective creatures wail on, or having to deal with around 7-10 bloated turn orders of enemies that just mass heal and buff each other all the while being able to likely deal 50% of your heal in specific attack, others having the chance to use these attacks multiple times in a row meaning even if I wanted to buff my creatures to be able to avoid instant death I'd only be able to save one before literally instant death. But combat is virtually pointless since you can just spam the very cheap monster capture cards to capture creatures …18 found this helpful
*sighs* RPG maker game that lets you go through all the super tedious intro story BS, only to HARD CRASH on you right when you're about to get into the game. Totally worth the $15 USD asking price, right? //end sarcasm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gArgxopYutA NOT RECOMMENDED. "$15 for a broken game, easy thumbs down."18 found this helpful
RPG Maker strikes again! Via Mortis is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. The difference here is the use of RPG Maker's 3D engine for this asset flip, which is seldom used (it's worse than the old Final Fantasy ripoff 2D engine we're used to) that pushes out a really crap type of Might & Magic first person orthogonal block perspective (but considerably worse than the 1990's Might & Magic games). As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips,…13 found this helpful
After getting all of the endings on this game after many hours, I think it's worth the price. Multiple endings depending on the choices you make and who you side with, you can capture enemies and have them fight for you, side quests to get hidden skills from npcs, as well as challenging bosses that require strategy to beat. The maze in this game isn't as bad to navigate through compared to The legend of Azarias, although I did have a bit of trouble finding the door to the final area at some point. Overall, it was a challenging game for a fair price,4 found this helpful
Via Mortis is an ambitious indie first-person role-playing game that blends traditional dungeon crawling with monster capture, tactical combat, and an unusually somber sci-fi–meets-dark-fantasy setting. Developed and published solely by Michael Richard Lannon, the game positions players as a soldier drafted into a desperate anti-demon initiative, tasked with venturing into a hostile otherworld where infernal forces threaten humanity’s survival. Rather than relying on cinematic storytelling, the game communicates its premise through atmosphere, environmental details, and mission structure, creating a slow-burn sense of dread and purpose that unfolds naturally as players push deeper into demon-controlled territory. Exploration forms the backbone of Via Mortis, with players navigating labyrinthine environments filled with branching paths, hidden rewards, and ever-present danger. Movement through these spaces is deliberate, encouraging careful observation and preparation rather than reckless forward momentum. Each new area carries the promise of powerful loot, lore fragments, or encounters that can alter your progression, but venturing off the safest route often means facing significa…1 found this helpful
