Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
This is a collection of mini-games, although the main game is a Tower Defense game of varying difficulties. You can throw axes, bombs, or shoot your bow & arrow. You can also teleport to different vantage points. Different enemies will walk or fly towards the gate. You're supposed to kill them before they reach the gate. There's also some other mini-games including a "golf" one which is just hitting this rodent thing with an axe over some bars. There's also this other mini-game where you teleport from boat to boat, to avoid the cannon shots. Anyways, all the mini-games are dated. This game released in 2017 but the mini-games feel like they were from 2016. Even in 2016 though, there were much better TD games / mini-games than these. The axe throwing mechanic here is awful. The bow & arrow has a very simple, but dated now mechanic. There is a nice variety of enemies, but they all act dumb just walking to the gate, plus the scales are off for many of them & also different parts of the map. It's just an ugly game as well (although by 2016 standards I'm sure it looked fine). Game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting s…

This game pegs the Yikes meter. Dev took 3 1/2 years to "investigate" broken achievements and put out an update. Once that update came out it reportedly broke all achievements entirely. I finally got around to trying it myself, and the game no longer works at all with my Index. It doesn't recognize the controllers.

Viking Rage is a set of low poly VR exclusive minigames centered around basic tower defense/wave survival gameplay, only the big deal is that you wave your arms around to accomplish stuff. If the game is compatible with your VR headset/controllers (it probably isn't). This looks and feels like a lot of the assets in the game are flipped/borrowed/plagiarised from asset stores, but I don't have any immediate proof, so let's go with giving the developer the benefit of the doubt. Regardless, this is visually unimpressive on top of all the other problems with it (broken achievements and a sea of compatibility issues). The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is g…

The game has potential. But poorly implemented, at the moment. Looks like someone just wants to make money. I bought it through a sale so I don’t regret it and I hope developers won’t be lazy to make a really good product in the future. Tested on Quest 2.

It is just VR tower defense game; you stand in a fixed position and kill trolls, orcs, and etc. that are attacking your village. Whilst the graphics are kinda cute, but it being VR-only game is a massive letdown for me. Although I still give it a positive review to it.

Viking Rage is a VR-focused action defense title developed and published by Arvur that places players directly in the boots of a Norse warrior defending their settlement from waves of invading creatures. Designed specifically for virtual reality, the game centers on physical interaction, motion-controlled combat, and straightforward survival mechanics. Rather than offering a sprawling narrative or expansive campaign, it builds its identity around the immediacy of VR combat—standing your ground and fighting off relentless attackers with a variety of medieval-inspired weapons. The primary gameplay loop revolves around wave-based defense. Enemies approach from multiple directions, and players must react quickly using axes, bows, bombs, and elemental traps to prevent them from breaching the settlement. The tactile nature of VR is central to the experience. Throwing an axe requires a physical motion, drawing a bow demands steady hands, and activating traps involves deliberate gestures. This hands-on design gives the combat a visceral quality that traditional flat-screen action games cannot replicate. In its strongest moments, the game succeeds at making players feel physically engaged …
