I just found this game and I really wish I'd found it earlier! Now I'm flying WWII fighter planes. One more childhood dream come true in VR! This game is so immersive in VR and I don't even have a HOTAS. I'm flying with my Index and knuckles controllers and an RTX 2080 and the game runs and looks beautiful! If you want to feel like a WWII fighter pilot this is the game for you. Simcade action at its best!1 found this helpful
If you want a good real flight combat game get Aces of Thunder. Most fun I've had in vr in years. This game is nothing compared to that one
Warplanes: Battles over Pacific is a World War II–era aerial combat game developed and published by Home Net Games that shifts the studio’s established flight-combat formula into the vast, dramatic skies of the Pacific theater. Building on the foundations laid by its predecessor, the game focuses on fast-paced dogfights, accessible flight mechanics, and immersive presentation rather than strict simulation accuracy. From the outset, it positions itself as a middle ground between arcade-style action and light simulation, aiming to deliver the fantasy of piloting iconic warplanes without overwhelming players with excessive technical complexity. The single-player campaign serves as the backbone of the experience, placing players in a series of missions inspired by historical Pacific air battles. While the narrative framing is relatively straightforward, it provides enough context to ground the action, charting a steady escalation from early patrols and skirmishes to more intense, high-stakes engagements. Missions range from intercepting enemy aircraft and protecting allied units to engaging in large-scale dogfights over open ocean and island chains. This variety helps prevent the camp…
Can't connect to my friends playing on meta unfortunately. Why I got this as I have il-2 for my self
9/10 This game is so much fun! I love the crazy amount of detail this game surprisingly has! The only real negative I can think of is the placement of yourself when you spawn in. A lot of moments when I was playing, it would position me way off where I was seated, and I couldn't recalibrate my position- it wasn't game-breaking, however it's a bit of an irritation. The controls are super easy to grasp, and allows you to have fun right off the bat. (No hundreds of hours learning like VTOL or any of the other complicated VR aerial shooters) I absolutely love how you can make your planes look how you want them to. Personally, I think shark faces are mandatory in any flying combat game >:) The intricate details to the planes themselves are really nice. Since this is the Pacific chapter, getting to see the Mitsubishi Zero's up close on the screen is AWESOME. They even got the paneling correct too with the wings (AAAHHHH it's so pretty)
warning they never update,,,gets old fast
