About Westale: Peelgrimage
Each character has 3 forms, with each form has different appearance and skills. Player can evolve into new forms through "Sarira" in the game. For example, Sun Wukong can be evolved from “Rookie” to “Heavenly Might”, and then to "Divine Monkie". With each evolution, your power can be increased by more than double.
Player can transform into various immortals from "Journey to the West" for a period of time in the game, such as “Aspects of Lightning”, "Opulence", "Manjusri", "Xingtian", and etc. Each immortal comes with different abilities that help improve your survival rate among monsters.
Westale:Peelgrimage designed many creative weapons and items based on the Survivor-like games. Have you ever heard that "Bullet Screen" can kill monsters? Have you ever seen someone kill monsters with a pencil? How about generate a "Black Hole" and suck in a ton of monsters? We make these things possible for you! And in this game, there are even more possibilities beyond these!
Acquire specific magical treasures that can be combined to a super-powerful relics, unleashing powers greater than the sum of their parts. The game features up to 20 artifacts with various effects, each capable of instantly transforming your combat experience!

It presents itself as a chaotic, fast-paced brawler filled with transformation mechanics, waves of enemies, and a touch of mystical absurdity. Rather than focusing on a linear narrative, it builds its identity around replayability, character growth, and combat variety. It’s a title that wants to evoke the sense of divine power and spiritual evolution found in Chinese mythology, but through a structure familiar to fans of survival and loot-driven action games. The premise revolves around mythic heroes embarking on an otherworldly pilgrimage, with the player controlling one of seven distinct characters. Each hero can undergo multiple transformations as they progress, evolving through forms that grant new abilities, appearances, and combat styles. This evolutionary system lies at the heart of the game’s design—players collect “Sarira,” a mystical resource that triggers transformations and allows for new tactical possibilities in battle. I'm surprised at the mixed reviews. I'm really having fun with this game. I play a lot of bullet heavens and while this isn't one of the forerunners of the genre it offers a lot to enjoy. The art is beautiful, I genuinely love looking at the game. Player characters, enemies and abilities all look great. There are seven characters to unlock all of which have three evolutions and unique character designs for each. I also like that there are different ways to upgrade your weapons! This gives a lot of visual and gameplay diversity. I will say that the amount of unlockables is lower than I would like and the translations are a little janky. I got this game for under two dollars on sale and I've already gotten hours of gameplay and more to go. I'm also going to buy the dlc to try out the extra playable characters. Westale doesn't revolutionize the genre but what it offers is good. If you like bullet heavens (especially if you enjoy hand drawn art in games) give this game a try, don't let the mixed reviews sway you away.
