Wukong 2088, developed and published by Uto88, is a compact roguelite action game that reinterprets the legendary figure of Sun Wukong through a futuristic, cyberpunk framework. Instead of leaning on traditional mythology, it imagines a world shaped by technology and conflict, where the spirit of Wukong exists as a force within a dystopian setting. This fusion of ancient inspiration and sci-fi aesthetics gives the game a distinctive premise, even if the experience itself remains grounded in familiar genre conventions. The gameplay centers on survival within enclosed arenas, where enemies appear in increasing numbers and pressure builds quickly. Viewed from a top-down perspective, the player must constantly move, attack, and manage positioning to avoid being overwhelmed. The core loop is immediate and easy to understand, making it accessible from the start. Enemies approach from all directions, forcing players to balance offense with evasion, and as each run progresses, the intensity escalates to the point where awareness and quick reactions become essential. The challenge is not about navigating complex systems but about maintaining control in a constantly shifting situation. Pro…1 found this helpful
Released in a buggy state and has remained in a buggy state. The upgrades seem cool, but they never appear to use after they are unlocked. If progression wasn't bugged to hell, this would be a lot of fun. In this state? Nah.
