The year is 1917. High above Europe, colorful biplanes roar through the foggy skies as uncountable young men give up their lives in the trenches below.
Take to the skies in Wings of Glory, the digital adaptation of Ares Games' board game of aerial combat!
Take the helm of a World War I biplane in a tabletop strategy dogfight! Outwit and out-fly your opponents by playing Maneuvers determined by your model of plane.
Each round, you'll secretly select three Maneuvers, and reveal them simultaneously with your opponents. An ace pilot plans their flight path and anticipates their enemies' tricks.
Catch enemy planes in your firing arc, and fire away! As planes take damage, available Maneuvers change as you fight to maintain control!
Execute daring bombing runs and bust enemy trenches with special mission objectives. Use air superiority to turn the tide of battle!

-> Barebones game: - only one map background (as opposed to 3 in the tabletop) - 8 planes (as opposed to like 20 in the tabletop) - no campaign -> Distances and angles are much harder to estimate than in the tabletop causing the player to fly off the needlessly tiny battlemap constantly resulting in the loss of the game. (an option to overlay the movement cards (even just one at a time) directly 1:1 on the battlemap would have helped. -> The game (as the tabletop) is EXTREMELY RNG focused. In one of the challenges you need to save a severly damaged camel and defend it with a DH4. By some miracle I managed to deal 18 damage cards at one of the two opposing Fokker DVII during the course of the game. The DVII still flying. On the other hand if you get unlucky your planes can be shot down in the first round if you get hit by two opponents and draw unlucky cards. Or your plane can be doomed in the first round if it gets close to the border of the map (remember the map is tiny) and draws a damage card locking the ruder in the direction you must fly to NOT run off the map. This is a fairly decent translation of the WW-1 table top miniatures aerial dogfight game. Although this version is entertaining enough, WoG only offers very limited game play. Despite the fact that the board game sells over thirty-five different miniature aircraft, this digitized version only comes with a handful of aircraft types (Fokker Dr.1, Fokker D.VII, Albatross D.Va, Roland C.2, Sopwith Camel, Sopwith Snipe, Spad -VIII, & Airco DH4). Other shortcomings of the game include maps that are too small, battles restricted to only six aircraft in total and no campaign (only four generic single missions – dogfight, bombing run, recon, & trench strafing – a challenge & online player vs player). Additionally this game doesn't offer any extra DLC aircraft or upgrades. As it stands now, there just really isn’t much to recommend here.1 found this helpful
Simple game that allows you to spend maybe half an hour at a time. Doesn't feel complete, but it has enough for the price. And if you need some time to familiarise mechanics and gameplay to make you a better player on the actual Wings of Glory tabletop game, this game will definitely help you in that.
much easier to let the computer keep track of turn arcs and available manuevers. I like the solo and multiplayer options.
Ever played Sid Meier's Ace Patrol? Than you need to not to bother with this poor quality clone.
