Winmon: Prologue

Cute desktop idler where your WinMon do various tasks that slowly progress, eventually letting you expand your farming. Kind of reminds me of Tamagotchi; really cute premise, and I like that it's a game that doesn't demand your undivided attention. I played Super Smash Bros while my WinMons farmed resources at the bottom of my screen lol. I've never played a desktop idler before this but I liked it enough to consider checking out the full release!

Developed by IndieLab and published by Ngoc and IndieLab, it serves as an introduction to the broader Winmon concept while still offering a functional progression system of its own. Rather than demanding constant attention, the game establishes a miniature world where adorable creatures continue working and interacting while the player handles other tasks. The ability to carry progress into the full version also makes time spent developing the prologue's little economy feel more worthwhile. At the center of the experience are the WinMons, colorful creatures that function simultaneously as companions, collectible monsters, and workers. Their lives revolve around a humorous cycle of eating, performing jobs, producing resources, resting, and returning to work. Perfect Great ☑ Decent Painfully Average Garbage

This game actually advertises it as an idle game, but until you get to the point where the game actually gets idle, it will need quite a bunch of hours of active gameplay for you to have the game running in the background. That's because some things like generating food for the monsters and dealing with wastes and critters, are locked behind quests, certain resources grinding (which takes time to gather if you have only one of the monster that get it) or you need to beat another requirement to unlock. Beside that, the idea is actually good, with the player even being able to reduce the size of the game window (so you can make use of that space for other things in your pc), so the game can idle while you do your things, but the execution of getting to the point where idle ends up being a thing makes so the player have to literally earn the right to idle in this game. Another thing that is actually really annoying in this game, is how many bugs there are here. There are points where your monsters stop doing their farming activities (like sowing, watering and lighting crops), and there's even bugs where if you leave the game running for a long period of time, the monsters will g…
