About Yaga

Smash, clobber and bash the murderous legends of Slavic mythology in this darkly funny action role-playing game that changes every time you play. Play as Ivan, a one-handed blacksmith with incredibly bad luck, who must take on the impossible tasks given to him by the tzar. All the while the mysterious witch, Baba Yaga, watches over Ivan's fate.

The world of Yaga is a world steeped in Slavic folklore and ancient Pagan beliefs. Featuring a head-bobbing Romanian hip-hop soundtrack from Subcarpați and striking, hand-drawn 2D artwork. Yaga is an authentic love letter to childhood fables from Romanian indie developer, Breadcrumbs Interactive.

[b] Yaga looks and sounds really good, with great music inspired by Slavic folklore, solid voice acting and the rhyming dialogue gives it a lot of charm but the gameplay just doesn’t keep up. Combat gets repetitive, hit detection feels inconsistent, difficulty is uneven and systems like crafting feel unfinished. In the end, it is a game with strong style but the actual gameplay is a letdown. I have enjoyed my time with this game, although there were a few bumps that could be improved on, there is no way to save your recipies, and some of the talismans remained unused. However, with the rest of the game, it was certainly an enjoyable experience. Especially with the intricate soundtrack and sound effects that make the game more lively. Overall, if you have some time to spare, please give this game a shot!1 found this helpful
Verdict: Yaga is a fun game that overstays its welcome by the end. The score rolled slightly into recommended thanks to really kickass soundtrack. + Positives + + Steam trading cards (8 drop, 13 to make a badge) + Steam achievements (55, requires at least 2 playthroughs) + Slavic mythology + Amazing soundtrack + Crafting is quite fun + Quite interesting story + Choices matter + Worth the replays + 6 different endings + Amazing presentation + Interesting enemies and NPCs – Negatives – - Combat is pretty terrible - Overstays its welcome by the end - Some weapons are overpowered and take the fun out of the game - Second half of the game = one shotting every enemy, three shotting boses - I feel like a lot of answer as misleading - Game doesn't save your progress in missions - I had two crashes - Tons of recycled content1 found this helpful
A rare gem of a game! Pure Slavic folklore. Zero "modern agenda". Christian coded. You're punished by increasingly Bad Luck for using magic things. But you can make your fate better by going to Christian priest. The fighting system is simple at glance, but difficulty can vary depending on what off-hand you will use. Most useful tip: When crafted hammer breaks, it drops ALL its components on the ground, so you can pick it up and craft it again! Hammers found in the chests don't do that, salvage them at the anvil. Also never get a perk for pushing away with the Chainfork! It makes the Chainfork useless!
Yaga . All the dialogue in the game is in English poetry! It's really cool and unique The game is also beautifully drawn and features great music that's both folksy and modernly upbeat. . Controls: WASD - move Tab - character M - minimap Esc - menu E - interact LMB - attack RMB - throw and recal hammer L shift - Tool Q - magic item Space - dodge and run F - favourites
You can really feel the passion and hard work the developers poured into this game Though the combat may be a bit rough, it makes up 10x fold with story telling and art
