Uninspired. That's the word that defines this game. Just at the start expect to find recycled puzzles from other games. Wondering about that ribcage puzzle from Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and The Dig ? Well, it's in the first 2 minutes of this game as well. Years pass, and developers still think that a ribcage is actually a cage. Everytime you enter a new screen, you will find 1 or 2 hotspots, a new character with little to no dialogue and a random fantasy trope. You will find every cliche in the genre time after time. They recorded a few voices for the opening lines of characters but that's it. In retrospective it's better this way because the voice acting is one of the worst ever heard. There are also typos, particularly in the last parts. What's worse, there are at least 5 items in the game that will completely blend with the backgrounds, some even require pixel hunting, and there's no hotspot highlighting feature. Inventory is a nightmare, you will need to open it everytime you want to combine items, if the combination failed, you need to reopen it to try again. Yet Another Hero Story combines lighthearted storytelling, engaging puzzles, and a dash of nostalgia into a delightful adventure. The humor is spot on, with plenty of jokes and quirky characters that keep you entertained from start to finish. It’s not a long game, but it’s packed with charm and personality. A perfect choice for a cozy evening of classic point-and-click fun!

Pros - Nice art-style - Weird fantasy world full of wacky characters - Humorous dialog - Decent puzzle design for the most part. There is a particular maze puzzle which I never understood but its possible to brute force it. - Nice fast travel system - Quick loading and saving (multiple save slots with timestamps) - Some nice animated sequences. - Controls as you would expect with mouse. Simple left click to interact and right click for some context. No messing around with verb tables etc. Drag and drop from Inventory as expected. Cons - No hot-spot reveal tool (as far as I'm aware) I was stuck a few times simply due to pixel hunting. - Music gets repetitive. Overall its a solid point and click with plenty of nostalgia. Recommended.

I'm tired and am not sure how coherent I am going to be, but I felt I had to write a review for this. I don't know if I can finish the game. I got to the first town and managed to get through some puzzles. I picked up several items and should probably have what I need for at least one more puzzle. But that's the thing, I don't understand much of what's happening. What items can be picked up? Where and how do I use the items? Where and what are the puzzles? Maybe it's because I'm autistic, but I'm not comprehending what the game expects me to do. I love point-and-click and puzzle games! Am I great at them? That's debatable, but I still enjoy those kinds of games. Nancy Drew games are an example of fun yet difficult point-and-click puzzle games. There are hints on the easier mode if you need them. There are indicators for if and how you can interact with items. The dialogue is fully voiced. The captions are readable. There's an options menu. The puzzles can be hard to figure out at times, but (usually) nothing feels unfair or too vague. I really need to read the reviews more thoroughly before I wishlist things. Cute and funny, but rough around the edges. It feels like someone's first attempt at making a game. I agree with the reviewers who have pointed out that some of the hot spots are hard to find and that impeded my progress multiple times. There is definite moon logic in this game, but I've seen worse. The screens also felt kind of bare minimum when It comes to interacting with the game. All In all, I found it charming, but frustrating at times.
