About Yokai Taiji
✦ AI summary
Hunt down supernatural Yokai creatures across atmospheric Japanese locations, using environmental interactions and unique seals to take down each powerful beast and rescue your grandmother. Every Yokai presents a distinct challenge with its own mechanics, forcing you to adapt your strategy and master the mystical knowledge passed down through your family.
Yokai Taiji is an adventure game, in which you will take the place of the last Yokai hunter in Japan, he lived with his grandmother who passed him the knowledge about what they are, how they manifest themselves and how to seal the Yokai . The Yokai are creatures of different shapes and sizes but with greater power than humans, due to this they tend to act arrogantly towards humans.
When one day an evil Yokai appeared to take her, now it is up to you to rescue her and purge your house of the Yokai.
Yokai Taiji has interaction mechanics with the different elements on the map that you will have to use to continue your way and in turn you will have to find seals to seal the Yokai. But it won't be easy since each Yokai is unique and has different mechanics.
You can also go through levels with different looks and themes, all set in Japan.

-My review is actually more of a neutral stance but Steam doesn't give that as an option- So the game was enjoyable to an extent for being the shortest game I've ever played on steam. But i'm also someone who enjoys pretty much anything to do with Yokai lore or themes. 10 mins for $4 on a game that doesn't really have much replayability does feel a bit steep though tbh. There's not really context as far as a story line in the game. You start up & it shows you the control buttons & you go from there. If I hadn't read the description for the game I'd honestly had never known there was suppose to be some sort of story for what I was doing. (There's a black screen upon start up with a skip button in the corner - if there was suppose to be some sort of explanation or cut scene there it doesn't work.) There's only three levels, the final being the boss. You collect seals & attack Yokai while dodging the yokai you can't defeat. I found the second level fun but with the camera view & the small rooms it made it a bit difficult to see, I wish there had been a first person view for that level tbh.7 found this helpful
