About Ys I & II Chronicles+
Join young adventurer Adol Christin as he unravels a 700-year-old mystery in the monster-infested land of Esteria, exploring lost kingdoms and ancient secrets in this modernized remake of Falcom's classic action RPGs. Experience the franchise-defining originals with fully upgraded analog combat, selectable soundtracks spanning three decades, and quality-of-life features like adjustable difficulty and high-resolution graphics that respect the beloved classics while bringing them into the modern era.
Eventually, the men and women who called Esteria their home began mining a uniquely radiant silver from the nearby mountains, and development boomed. Towns were built, and the land became rich with life.
Then, all at once, monsters began to appear. Only a few at first – but soon enough, the land was swarming with them, and the Esterians had no choice but to hide in fear, remaining ever vigilant just to stay alive.
Our story begins with a young man who’d heard rumors of these misfortunes, and strove to verify them with his own eyes; a brave swordsman with an adventurous spirit bolstered by his own youthful naiveté.
His name was Adol Christin.
With no regard for his own safety, Adol set sail toward Esteria through a heretofore impassable barrier of neverending storms. There, he was destined to become ensconced within a 700 year-old mystery that would ultimately take him to a long-lost land nestled amongst the clouds...
Ys I & II Chronicles+ is the most modernized and up-to-date remake of Falcom’s classic franchise-spawning action RPGs from 1987 and 1988. Come see how the story began, and witness the birth of a legend!

Ys I is a great old RPG. Emphasis on old, because where I did find it really enjoyable. I can completley see why people wouldnèt enjoy a game like this enymore. The combat is just running into enemies from a 45 degree angle or you get hit going head on. Which did take a little getting used to, and the simplicity of it. But once it clicked with me I was running all around running into enemies trying to line up perfectly. It's just a good little time capsule of a game.1 found this helpful
Finished on Linux. It works flawlessly. Because of offline gaming on Linux, the timer is not working correctly; the time is about 7-8 hours. So, review. It was a great game for sure, from the beginning to the very end! This game has no long tutorials for hours, no handholding all the time, and no boring dialogs and quests like "bring me 10 herbs because of..." and so on. You learn about the world by yourself. The more you explore, the more the story and equipment you get. Just have a lot of fun with the game, nothing more. Reminds me of Astlibra and the light version of La-Mulana. Descriptions and terms of acquisition of equipment and items are made just great, especially if you are reading what NPCs tell you; reading descriptions of the items is very helpful too; there is even some bullet hell in some fights that I love. Backtracking is great; I don't remember when I had the joy of the experience of backtracking like this (maybe the above-mentioned Astlibra or Rabi-Ribi or Demons roots, I guess). Really feels like a great journey. Music is great! Art is great! Fighting is great! Everything is great! I hope the only disadvantage is the game itself is not so long, BUT we have a se…1 found this helpful
Man Origin's was something completely different from Ys1 I love the retro aspect alot Bump system is okay once you get a hold of the mechanic. Alltrough recommanded Love the fact that you have a full inventory after finishing the game satisfying as they call it. Be prepaired for the worst...
the bat boss sucks and is stupid and makes me mad but the rest of the game is pretty good
why the ♥♥♥♥ are there two achievements for molesting a girl ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Otherwise it's a mildly interesting experience for someone who's never played a game with a "bump combat system", and the soundtrack is great. Nihon Falcom's habit of giving each minor NPC a bit of personality is also appreciated. Also the antagonist's name is hysterical.
