absolutely still holds up today
i admit it... From where i come from this game has a huge following and nostalgic dominance, you could even say those for me as i played this game when i was younger. However as i grew older i shunned some of its mechanics purely out of comparing to some other games without realizing how masterful of a hybrid this title is. The economy/castle simulator with minor RTS mechanics creates a very dynamic playground for strategic role-play plus the atmospheric charm, incredible music and map designs. The skirmish campaigns are what keep this game together with tough challenges that help you switch both strategy and tactics. the multiplayer is fun with friends albeit it can be a bit broken. in short, i believe this game to be one of my favorite strategy games as well as a favorite game in general to play.
An absolute childhood classic. The music, art, and characters are all iconic and game is still fun to play after all these years. If you want a nostalgia run for cheap, play this one but if you're looking for the 'better' game, get the Definitive Edition remake.
