About Zeta Leporis RTS
Among the asteroids surrounding the star Zeta Leporis, competing cybernetic vestiges of a dead civilization follow their infinite mandate to expand, exploit, and exterminate. Eternally adhering to the operational templates from the Last Great War, they interpret any life or machine form that deviates from their own build as an aberration that requires eradication. The efficiency of the machine and the mindlessness of total war...a constant cycle of rebuilding and destruction, until, some day, there will be nothing left.

Zeta Leporis RTS, developed and published by Jason Gieske, is a minimalist real-time strategy game that leans heavily on the foundations of classic RTS design while operating within a clearly indie scope. Set in a distant star system where autonomous factions battle across fragmented asteroid fields, the game establishes a tone that is more mechanical than narrative-driven. There’s little emphasis on story or character; instead, the focus is placed squarely on systems, resource flow, and tactical decision-making. The core gameplay follows a familiar structure: gather resources, construct buildings, produce units, and engage in combat to control the map. What stands out is how unapologetically traditional the design feels. Rather than simplifying mechanics for accessibility, the game expects players to actively manage multiple layers at once—economy, production, defense, and offense—often under constant pressure. This creates a pacing that feels deliberate and sometimes demanding, especially for those not accustomed to juggling several responsibilities simultaneously. For players with experience in older RTS titles, this approach will feel recognizable, even comfortable. One of th…3 found this helpful
Zeta Leporis is fun. Like, almost surprisingly so. The stand outs for me are the resource delivery mechanic and the AI. Unlike a lot of RTS games, your buildings need a constant supply of materials. Most games I feel use a central pool of resources that you spend but here your supply ships automatically zip about depositing and picking up ore, fuel and energy. It's an interesting gameplay mechanic and hard to get right but in Zeta Leporis it works. I put this down to the really solid supply ship AI. They zip around like worker bees. It adds such a good vibe to the game and adds just the most interesting wrinkle to the gameplay that you might not get from the videos or screenshots. The AI is good too. It's hard. Like, I've played for several hours and haven't won a game yet but I've gotten closer each time. I don't feel frustrated, I feel challenged. There's just something about this game that WORKS. Finally, the game has a lot of charm. The tutorial is good (although it didn't explain where fuel (a higher level resource) came from). The voices for the units (and tutorial) and really charming. It's kind of home made but in the best way. I've just had a big smile on my face t…3 found this helpful

At the current state, I do not really recommend this that much, but it has a great potential. What it lacks is the delivery of the elements: how gameplay flows, the user interface, the environment. Maybe in a few more updates, this will blossom further. Take my word for it, it has a great potential! The logistical aspect is fresh, although I am certain some groups won't be into it. The audio design is the weakest. That needs the most amount of better implementation. The UI is still basic, hopefully that gets changed. The review will be updated after the game gets several updates. That being said, I will still make a video covering this game soon (as of writing, I am swamped by my work training) TLDR: Game needs to reach its full potential. To the developer, you can DM me if you want to hear more of my thoughts. I may not be an RTS dev, but I worked on modding, so I suppose I got some level of credibility, and I want to help you in one way or another. See you in a few updates!2 found this helpful
Enjoyable old school RTS by a passionate dev. It was fun to play and I will come back for more. Thumbs up!2 found this helpful
Does not work. Window opens with parts off screen, no configuration options. Is this a real project??? Not worth 1$USD pretty much. It's nothing like the screenshots because it is unplayable. Maybe on a smaller display, but still it's pretty shabby to simply not work and also been release > 18 months ago.
