Couldn't get to settings menu to save, panning moves way too fast, it doesn't have full screen modes. It really is a bummer to not recommend it because this is one of my all time favorite games from the mid 90's era. I'd ask for a refund if I hadn't gotten it at rock bottom pricing. This is honestly one of my favourite games of all time. I played it when it came out in the 90s and I don't remember ever finishing it, certainly not without cheating. I am blown away by the beauty of the aesthetic and maturity of the story, particularly compared to the rest of the franchise. A stunning, timeless game. I defy the reader to name me a better game by Activision. I'm begging someone, anyone, please upscale this, but when you do, keep the original video sequences the same. <32 found this helpful
Very ridiculous game. It definitely starts fairly strong and logical, but begins to really fall apart after the 3rd area. The ending is rage inducing and spoils an otherwise passable game. This game is literally the Grim Reaper meme. Quicksilver Software Inc., Zombie LLC, and the CD Drive are all dead now. Hardly a coincidence. Who would have thought that the developers who went on to make Spec Ops: The Line would end up being so villainous.

I finished it, with hints, in just under 26 hours of total gameplay. It instantly became one of my favourite games, scoring 86%. This put it ahead of the original Myst for me, but behind Riven and Obsidian. Thus it became my third favourite game back in the day. How does it stand up today? Deb and I played it as a team, and we took just under 17 hours, using my notes from 2000 to help us out. There are spoilers, so beware. We played it on Steam, beginning in April and concluding in June of 2026. The original CDs (three of them) sometimes got stuck during game play, though I also found some problems with the Steam version. At the very beginning I was unable to use the cursor to guide us through the game. It would spin or move far too quickly. Luckily a previous gamer had posted a solution on Steam, and for the most part it worked like a charm. Each time the game was started (including after any save) players have to hold down the Ctrl key and then strike the F11 key 18 times! That seemed to slow down the cursor just…
If you need to slow down your processor, you can lower the TDP to 15W in the motherboard BIOS. Run also a CPU intensive program at the same time to further slow the CPU
