Magic has been banned from the great Underground Empire of Zork. By edict of the Grand Inquisitor Mir Yannick, the Empire has been sealed off and the practice of mystic arts declared punishable by "Totemization" (a very bad thing). The only way to restore magic to the kingdom is to find three hidden artifacts: The Coconut of Quendor, The Cube of Foundation, and The Skull of Yoruk.
Join forces with Dungeon Master Dalboz who calls you "AFGNCAAP"( politically-correct initialism for "Ageless, Faceless, Gender-Neutral, Culturally-Ambiguous Adventure Person") and together you travel throughout the Underground Empire's many locations, such as Hades, Flood Control Dam #3 and The Dungeon Master's Lair in an attempt to find the three missing artifacts and bring about the fall of the Inquisition.

Well here we are in 2026 and I am still loving this game. I was first introduced to the original Zork in 1977 by a colleague (he loved to snoop the ARPNET) at Cornell University on the PDP-10 mainframe I helped install. That was back in my early 40s and, heh heh, time flies...anyways, I found the game to be a great pleasure to play. I believe they even took some of my feedback when I told them they should implement a log of failed commands players input so they could create more 'catches'. Yup, I was there before the 'Alice in Wonderland' updates. Grand Inquisitor does a fantastic job of bringing the classic interactive book game to LIFE with top class acting. This game runs excellent on my Linux machine with just a bit of tinkering. I am 92 years old now and getting to relive my early years of messing around on Zork, and trying out all kinds of fun interactions.1 found this helpful

Can be a little confusing at times, but not more than most point and clicks already are, and its absolutely worth sitting through a bit of confusion, this game is probably one of the funniest ive ever played and i regularly quote it to this day, its so full of soul and charm in like every corner of it and its absolutely worth the cheap price for it
Finally got to play a game from my childhood! Old school but brilliant. The puzzles were tough but with a little help from the walkthrough, managed to complete the game which I abandoned all those years ago! Feeling accomplished now :)
