✦ AI summary
Players praise the game's cute art style and enjoy its roguelike deckbuilder gameplay that blends elements of Gungeon and Cuphead, though some find it genuinely fun despite their skill limitations. Common complaints center on poor difficulty balancing, particularly the frustrating Impossible mode design with its spell slot system, specific boss encounters like Tea Boss that feel unfair, and occasional nausea-inducing visuals during gameplay.
"Zui's Witch Academy" is a game jam reject that got dumped on Steam as if it's a real game. While it's styled as a deckbuilder, it's really just a garbage tier 2D top down pixelcrap arena shooter without any notable content. Or quality, for that matter. This is not a sincerely made product, it was made for a game jam, which is a problem. It was done in a constrained period of time; professional game development takes years of effort from teams of talented and qualified people. A "game" slapped together in a weekend by an amateur simply isn't going to have any value for gamers, and that plays out clearly with this shovelware. Also, products created in game jams were never intended for gamers, they exist only to stroke the ego of amateur developers who can't get a real job in the industry. When developers, especially untalented ones, put themselves before gamers, garbage like "Zui's Witch Academy" is the inevitable result. It's improper for shovelware like this to be published through Steam Direct, because it's harmful. This half-baked, rushed, non-professional product, not designed for gamers, is taking up space on the Steam store that should be given over to genuine, talen…1 found this helpful
♥♥♥♥ Globeh :(. Otherwise a super cute game. Do recommend.
i liked this game! it feels like a mix of gungeon and cuphead. i unfortunately have a skill issue in almost every game i play, but it's still fun :) and the art style is nice too. my only complain? tea boss. not fun. not fun at all.
Games fun, but legitimately nausea-enducing at times.
i graduated
A recommend from me, with some caveats. The hardest difficulty (Impossible mode) is poorly designed, and you are going to have a bad time if you are an achievement hunter. I could only do it myself by using a macro that spammed the dodge button. Impossible difficulty starts you with 1 spell, leaving 2 spell slots empty. Since the game automatically switches between your three spell slots every x seconds, you are going to spend 66% of the time against the first boss with no way of dealing damage. This, coupled with bosses being damage sponges, really drags the first battle out. Once you beat the boss and have three spells, you then stand a better chance against the harder bosses, like the one that can 1-shot you (Boogle Beast). And since you only have 1 life on impossible, you have to redo that first boss battle every time you die. As for the game itself, it is a fast-paced, bullet-hell game that lets you choose which order you want to fight 7 different bosses. There is no meta-progression (beyond unlocking higher difficulties), so you start over fresh when you either die or beat the final boss. Features charming art, snazzy music and fun and memorable characters. I had fun (despi…
