Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon

Where to start ... where to start ... Hmmm ... Let's start with gameplay. Gamer plays as a SPIDER (four different ones plus a WALRUS) so Arachnophobic souls should beware. The entire game play is physics based with the spider creating webs to trap then eat insects, crickets, moths and butterflies. Bees, hornets, dragonflies, and red ants needed to tackled to be consumed. (There are many other insects too, the mentioned are just the most common.) The consumption is converted into silk thread and points. There are five point tiers and some achievements are based on points. Death: Running out of silk causes starvation death. There are other ways to die but why spoil the experience (or earning that achievement). Remember I mentioned the 4 different spider species and the WALRUS. Each spider species is revealed after solving a mystery which is a background element to the gameplay and must be completed to continue to the end game. The walrus appears after the fourth mystery is solved but can used from the beginning if a cheat is entered. (To get the walrus change your in-game name to "Rosmarus" in 'Save Sessions' menu then select the walrus in the 'Spider Type' menu.) Now for th…

Very cool, very casual game. Works great on Steam Deck. Controls took some getting used to, though… mostly because they're binary – there's a built-in acceleration on every input, including analogue sticks, making it kinda hard to move precisely. There's also a dead-zone that you can't disable, but that can be mitigated in Steam's controller settings.

This is actually a pretty boring game, I was surprised since it has positive reviews. It's actually really tedious, not much to it at all. Cute idea though, just wasn't much of a first impression, I only played about 5 minutes though. Looking at the screenshots it looks like it's pretty much the same thing all the way through but I don't know for sure. It was a cool idea for sure, just wasn't much fun.

Loved playing the mobile version of this game when I was a kid on my iPod touch. Still a great game.

A cute little game that had me becoming very attached to my spider.

Amazing game, very fun to play through levels and very satisfying when you solve mystery's. World records are very challenging, but I have broken some myself after hours of playing.
