Progeria Vae Victis is a solid indie match 3 game that has a main highlight with it's world building. The setting feels both delightfully anime and yet plenty grim. I only played the route with Galina, but what I did see in that route did provide an interesting secondary viewpoint from that of the seemingly detached protagonist. I am excited to dive back in and see what other kinds of perspectives other characters will deliver as the game goes on. Overall, Progeria Vae Victis gets a recommendation from me for the world building alone, with the match 3 puzzle combat being an extra cherry on top.

A phenomenal experience that I can not recommend enough. Setting: The game takes place in an alternate reality filled with magic, focusing on a feudal Russia in the 21st century that has never faced the fires of revolution. You play as one Kirill Yeletsky, a young noble from a disgraced house, studying at the most prestigious school for mages in the Empire, for the chance to raise his family from their destitute state. Characters: Charming, crass, witty, kind, and scheming; There's a little bit of everything to be found amongst the cast in Vae Victis. Particularly an individual draped in violet. Combat: Vae Victis expresses gruesome magical violence in the only way one can imagine - A Connect 3 Puzzle! Kirill has a selection of spells he can select from across the course of the game, and it's up to the player to use what's most effective to carve your way through the opposition. Visuals: A pleasant baroque meets anime style, though I'm far from the best judge on that front. Regardless, CGs and gameplay sprites alike are clear and appealing.
