✦ AI summary

Substrate: Emergence is a challenging and unique indie game with deep strategic mechanics centered around mutating cells to adapt to different environments, which players find engaging and rewarding once they push past the learning curve. The main criticism is that the tutorial and new player experience don't adequately explain the mechanics and available content, leaving players to figure things out largely on their own, though those who persevere report 3+ hours of compelling gameplay.

Needs a better new player experience.

I don’t know much about biology or chemistry. The game didn’t tell me a whole lot about the subject either. But damn! The I’ll play 30 mins just to check it out turned into 3 hours. If you don’t mind the difficulty of figuring all the mechanics out for yourself its an extremely fun game! Very impressive for a solo dev game :))

This game challenges your mind in a way. At first, when I started playing it, it was straightforward. Still, as you progress into deeper territory, you suddenly have to use clever tactics to defeat enemies, especially with the grouping and movement mechanics. And the fact that you can mutate your cells to have that specific purpose, whether it's to survive a high temperature or even survive extremely acidic areas, is a part of the game I really like. I highly recommend this game if you want a challenging but fun experience!

very fun and unique game but tutorial didnt introduce much of the included content to me also some keys/buttons (like divide) feel like they do nothing even when i select all, i might just be using it wrong but only a few of them divide even when others are ready

I was an admin for the discord since the very early days of S:E. I am now a community ambassador, but it does not change my opinion on the game. This game is wonderful, the developer is super transparent and communicates a lot in the discord. I could not recommend this more, if you like science, its wonderful. The game is realistic but also fun, and updates are frequent. I received it for free as benefit of being one of the first 200 people in the server, and aswell being an admin for a time. To summarize it, buy the game, support an indie dev. S:E is indescribably good
