Crawl

Crawl is more than a decade old roguelite dungeon crawler in which you play one of 4 competing heroes. Your objective: Crawl out of the dungeon, killing a randomly drawn boss, saving your soul in the process. Slight detail: Only one hero can crawl out of the dungeon. Only one hero can materialize to defeat the dungeon's traps and beasts. The others need to be killed to enter the place. The presentation in crawl is pixel based and very rough around the edges. It does not help immersion very much. The game play involves trying to figure out which ghost you are controlling far too often. Spell effects, movement and other moving objects on the screen get mashed up in a confusing soup of light of colors. Even for a pixel based game the graphics were hurt when the design tried to mimic early 90s games. I can't say I feel very nostalgic about the effect. A lot of the games I played when i was a kid, I wouldn't want to play with the same graphic cards. The second critic I have on Crawl, is it's an absolute garbage heap of imprecise controls. The characters can only move in 8 directions, like the old days games I'd rather not replay, and trying to hit anything on screen, controller or no…

Fun Alone Even better with friends. Get your four homies over, or more if you take turns based off loser, and fun for hours especailly if you try new builds each time.
