About The Room Three

✦ AI summary

Solve intricate tactile puzzles across a mysterious island while uncovering the secrets of a shadowy figure called The Craftsman. The Room Three expands the series' signature hands-on puzzle design with a fully rebuilt world, enhanced visuals, and increasingly complex environmental challenges.

Continuing the critically acclaimed ‘The Room’ game series, Fireproof Games are proud to bring the third instalment to PC.

The Room Three continues the tactile puzzle-solving gameplay of its predecessors while considerably expanding the world for the player to explore. Once again, Fireproof Games have re-built, re-textured and re-lit every asset and environment to bring the mysterious world of The Room to life.
In The Room Three you find yourself lured to a remote island, where you must draw upon all your puzzle-solving ability to navigate a series of trials devised by a mysterious figure known only as “The Craftsman”.

Fireproof Games are a small independent team working in Guildford in the UK. We self-published our first game The Room on iPad in September 2012 and were stunned with both the critical success and our new-found fan-base, not to mention multiple international awards. The Room games have since changed our lives and we hope you enjoy playing them as much as we enjoyed making them.

✦ AI summary

The Room Three maintains the series' engaging puzzle-solving gameplay with new mechanics and multiple endings that encourage replay, though some players feel it relies too heavily on portals and repetitive puzzle types compared to the more intricate designs of the first two games. While fans of the series generally appreciate it as a solid continuation, others find the experience becomes somewhat monotonous and less atmospheric, with occasional bugs potentially hindering progression.

I usually don't get dizzy or motion sick with games, but this one had so much backtracking that it made me feel sick. The puzzles were fine but felt pointless! The clues weren't as helpful as the previous installment. I have to admit I had to look up a guide at one or two sections of the game because I just couldn't find what the game is asking me to look for. This is sad for me to say because I completely adored the first two games. None of the multi-rooms felt satisfying. I found myself constantly dreading how long the more complicated rooms were going to last. It became one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with this series. I really don't recommend this one unless you got it from the collection bundle and on a sale. Short game, not very sweet.

I didn't really even feel the need to review The Room Two, since it was so similar to The Room. The Room Three on the other hand – though still quite similar – introduces some new innovations compared to the previous games, mainly in the form of four different endings. The main puzzles took around six-ish hours for me to solve, taking into account that this time I decided to disable all hints right from the get-go. I got stuck for a short while a couple of times, mainly while looking for one tiny button that I didn't realise was actually a button during the last chapter. After beating the main game you can return to the central hub area from the menu and check out the rest of the endings. These were the most annoying parts, not because I didn't know what to do, but because interacting with the puzzle pieces was made so finicky that I finally had to look up a guide – and it still took a while to shake my mouse sideways in the correct manner, and to input the numbers that I had already correctly figured out. You have to redo a short puzzle segment in the last phase during every ending, but luckily it wasn't that long. The final cutscenes were also not too shabby, though quite s…

While overall the game is enjoyable and the story is good, this is the least enjoyable in the series. The puzzles are all relatively easy, but the large area to navigate with the tiniest details that are easy to miss make the game start to drag. After working to get all 4 endings I had to force myself to launch 4, which thankfully flowed a lot better.

This game suffers from all that make the previous games bad... Easy puzzles. Altho this time around they are in a much better looking jacket. Much like the second game, you traverse through different areas. They all fit together which is nice, but this comes at the cost of needing to backtrack. Its not horrible as you might think as there are occasional areas which you cannot leave untill completion. I find the new lens mechanic rather boring and lackluster, you used to go around everywhere you could with that thing to find your next clue. Now its all served on a platter of green textures and effects to enter places, it once again just makes me feel like the devs think we are dumb. Now as for the entering places? i actually quite like it, they give a mini room with an easy puzzle to complete, they are ultimatly meaningless as they are beyond easy and might aswell just give the key or whatever, but its visually pleasing. Taling about visually pleasing, this game is quite pretty, but that comes at a cost. My pc is far from too weak to play this game, yet i suffer from constant frame drops and jittering. The weirdest thing is, steam doesnt register any of it, personal issue? maybe. …
