What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Endling - Extinction is Forever is a short, atmospheric narrative game that players praise for its emotional storytelling and touching portrayal of a mother fox protecting her cubs, though some find the ending deeply sad. Common complaints include limited control customization like key rebinding, and the game's brevity, though most who engage with it consider it a worthwhile experience for its meaningful message about nature and family.
You're a mother fox and you just brought four beautiful little cubs into the world, but the world is a cruel and unforgiving place. Endling is a short game but still manage to carry a huge impact. You play as Mother Fox and you have to feed and keep your cubs alive in world that is constantly changing and threatens you and your babies. The art is beautiful and the colors are soft, which is very little comfort to the deep stress and heart-ache you feel when you're unable to feed your cubs. Not to mention if they have to starve.1 found this helpful
What a beautifully depressing game. Great Animation and Storytelling. Around 2-3 hrs play through.. 8.5/10
play this game if you want to cry yourself to sleep nightly
Heartbreaking game, there are many alternative endings. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who needs a good emotional and moving game. It really puts in perspective how we as humanity are ruining our ecosystem and wildlife and how we take advantage of it.
Don't have much to say, its a great game, i'd reccomend it. but its a little short so i finished the game 4 times already, but its great.
While the story, graphics, and artwork are AMAZING, the price is terrible. $30 just for a 3-4 hour experience that doesn't even seem to save after complete progression of story is very steep and not worth it. I bought this game because it said it was similar to another game (Rain World) that I played, even coming in a bundle, and I love(d) that game, especially since it has so much content, particularly in the DLCs but still in the base game too. I expected this game to be a lot longer in story and content than just 2-4 hours to complete the main story and mostly everything else as well. TLDR; the game itself (story, artwork, and content) are very pleasing and enjoyable, but the problem is the price. It is only about 2-4 hours of gameplay for 100% completion, if not just the story. (yes i know it goes on sale frequently, but still the MAIN price is, in my opinion and I am sure many others', very high.
