Game has some neat ideas but the game also doesn't want to tell you anything A leader is speeding up building construction? Nice! How much?... Doesn't say. That's fine, this is a military game not a building game! We attack with an army! Our army falls back. Why? Hmm... says they got hit by artillery and crumbled. Ok, we'll raise morale to full and discipline then attack! Same result, same text. What could it be? Bad luck? Maybe we need more soldiers? Maybe more artillery? Maybe more rifles? Maybe we need two armies to attack back to back? Maybe the Leader is a sucky general?? Who knows! Doesn't say. Its hard to recommend it as a strategy game when you can't form a strategy without any numbers.

I've tried multiple times to get into this game, and it is just a brick wall of a game. No clear idea of what to do, the tutorials are awful and don't really explain much, and mechanics are designed far more about being "historically accurate" than even being remotely fun. You'll typically sit there, confused, unsure what to do, then try and do something only to find that it just didn't work because corruption or something. It's very obvious this was made by one passionate person, but clearly it did not result in a good product. I'm sure this hits all their personal sweet spots, but for me, this game is just a chore to try and understand. Also, no, I will Not be going to your discord to learn how to play. Make a proper tutorial that doesn't just go "here's a bad explanation, go read the wiki which is also wrong, or go ask on my discord." Any further time I put into this game will solely be for collecting the cards for it, then it will likely be shelved, never to be touched again.

If you are a history buff, and don't mind navigating lacklustre tutorials, obscure mechanics, poor UI, and repetitive clicking over tens of turns, this game scratches a very niche itch. Pros: Well researched and unique play style Cons: See above

seems like an interesting and in-depth strategy game with tons of historical accuracy. unfortunately from what little i played i bounced off it pretty hard, the UI is terrible and needs too many clicks, not enough information is given even with the reports you get, like why did my army suddenly move away from the city it was at? is it due to low loyalty? what is vitality meant to represent? how can i tell if my cities are growing each turn? im guessing soup kitchens closing is bad, but can i quickly see some reports on the raw numbers? i didn't even figure out that having multiple characters means you can do multiple different things in one turn until i did it by accident. it also is somewhat buggy, i had the intro text on one level loop 4 times before starting, and generally even things like the options menu look extremely unpolished and unfinished. for a cheap $5 early access game all this would be excusable but this seems to be fully released and currently costs $30 full price or $15 on sale in my currency. for comparison, completely different genre and maybe not an entirely fair comparison but i paid that much for persona 3 and got a very well polished 100+hr game.
