About Tenebris: Terra Incognita

✦ AI summary

Tenebris: Terra Incognita is a challenging turn-based RPG where you command humanity's best fighters to save a crashed starship and escape an alien planet swarming with intelligent insectoid horrors. Deep character customization across 17 advanced classes, strategic gear combinations, and base management create a punishing tactical experience inspired by Darkest Dungeon and X-COM.

Tenebris: Terra Incognita is a challenging turn-based RPG set in a gloomy science fiction setting. Take command of the best fighters of humanity and save the expedition of the Solaris ship, which crashed on an uncharted planet infested with terrible monsters!

CHARACTERS

We are big fans of series like Darkest Dungeon, X-COM and Disciples, and we want to give players a similar experience through deep hero customization and career progression. Having 5 basic classes with easily recognizable roles at the beginning of the playthrough, the player will be able to choose character development branches from 17 advanced classes as they gain experience. Each specialization has separate talent trees, allowing the player to create unique characters within the same class.

The game has a full inventory system. Found or purchased items - weapons, armor, special equipment - can not only improve the basic characteristics of the characters, but also influence their talents or give new abilities.
  • Experiment with the talent branches of the characters.
  • Combine your abilities with equipment items.
  • Create your own unique build, and conquer the world of Tenebris!

MONSTERS

The damaged hull of the ship turned out to be the least of the expedition's problems: the people, not having time to recover from the heavy landing, were immediately attacked by huge bugs. The size, speed and aggressiveness of the enemy would not be such a problem if not for the amazing organization of the swarm. These bugs, through chemical signals, are able not only to coordinate, but also to strengthen and accelerate each other. The more there are, the more dangerous each individual enemy is.

If you manage to defend the ship and gain a foothold in the insect-infested Misty Wasteland, your troops will be able to open other areas where the bug scouts do not dare to go. And if you learn from the swarm, you will understand: there, beyond the borders of the wasteland, you will need new abilities, different combat tactics and, most likely - bigger guns.

STARSHIP "SOLARIS"

The Solaris ship is your base and the only relatively safe place on the planet. Here you can purchase weapons and armor, awaken new recruits from cryo-sleep and send wounded heroes for treatment. The resources found in missions will allow you to improve the ship's bays and expand the capabilities of your squad.

In addition to the expedition commander and the head of the security service, together with whom you will solve the main task of escaping the planet, you will be assisted by the chief doctor, leading engineer and warehouse manager. Each crew member will have unique tasks for you, and solving them will allow you to obtain additional resources and technologies that can increase the chances of survival of the expedition.

Be careful - the ship's supplies are scarce, and you will have to fight for the planet's resources. You have to carefully choose what to spend the little you can get in battles.

Will you be able to conquer the dark planet and save the expedition?

The crew has left all the decisions to you - proceed at your own risk!

✦ AI summary

Tenebris: Terra Incognita is a Darkest Dungeon-style tactical game in space that players find engaging and less frustrating than its inspiration, with praise for solid gameplay and potential. Common complaints center on shallow strategic depth, tedious squad management and grinding without quality-of-life features like speed-up toggles, excessive save-scumming viability, and unskippable early tutorial missions, though many feel the upcoming 1.0 update will address these issues. Players seem interested in waiting for the full release or picking it up once those improvements land.

Absolutely amazing, fun indie masterpiece! Finished the game on Horror Movie difficulty and loved every minute of it - 5 different enemy biomes, a wide variety of playable characters all with their own strengths and weaknesses. I think the game is very well balanced and a lot of fun. The randomness of itemization could be improved upon, maybe add an element of forging your own gear but besides that I just want to play it MORE! :) Worth every cent, great game and I hope to see even more of it (DLCs or sequels)!

It's a really fun game. It doesn't force players to act hastily. So you can take your time to enjoy and build your squad. You don't have to send people to potentially their deaths. Unless you're playing the hardest difficulty you'll definitely have fun. You can rename characters as well that's another plus for me. I'm in the middle of the content and classes feel diverse after you reach t3 but I think this game needs one or two more classes to feel more complete. Also a dlc or two and achievements alongside these would be great in the future. Currently it is a 8/10 Game for me. If you like turn based-dungeon crawlers you'll like it.

I played this in early access and again at full release, and on both occasions I found the experience an enjoyable one. To be fair I played it on the easiest difficulty, so any comments I make regarding the ease of the game should be taken with this in mind. I found it to be a bit of a min maxers paradise in regards to gear, although with 30 ish heroes you can actually spend the bulk of your time fiddling with everyones gear rather than playing missions ( each to their own I guess ). I also found there to be a fair of optimization in regards to team synergy, though on the difficulty level I played it I believe I was being needlessly picky. As the game progressed I found different team combos became more appealing, though some missions genuinely won't suit some classes whereas others will excel in them. One example is the "Spider" level, this will not suit a class that deals a large amount of damage in a single shot, but will suit a class that hits multiple times in a round ( to burn down its invulnerability cocoon ). However, later on with high crit chance/damage and the right ability choices those single shot snipers can deal immense damage to a Boss even potentially 1 shotting th…

Not the best dungein crawler, mildly put. Lame itemization, not enough unique character mechanics (especially healers) to build really interesting party. Talent trees are mostly fun, but not that diverse either. Base upgrades are lame as well, just build everything and that is all. Stimulators mechanic is ok, but nothing to be crazy about. Stratregy element on missons is nonexistent - just go from left ro right and click on items. fight enemies... Spider boss is some nonsense, in pre late game on hunt missions especially... Most of time is spent on boring staff - change items, send characters to some raids and such.. Overhaul, even DD2 (which I don't like that much) is way better, and not only in graphics.
