The Ball (2010)

[b]The Ball[/b] [i]lmao[/i], is basically a washed down Portal game set within ancient structures as you navigate your mute character. The puzzles are very simple most of the time and you don't really feel challenged enough to go through the entirety of the game. Enemies are mostly mummies and they are begging to get crushed by, yes you've guessed it - [b]THE BALL[/b]. I've only played for an hour but I already saw all this game has to offer - mid puzzles, a giant, dragging ball that goes wherever you go, no weapons, no legs for the character who is awfully short for some reason and basically no storyline whatsoever. I don't know what were they thinking at Tripwire when they made this game with the most basic ass name in the history of gaming - [b]The Ball[/b] [i]lol[/i] doesn't bode well in my opinion at all and there's literally nothing about it that can make me play it for a minute longer. Tbh, I was basically [i]forced[/i] to buy this game in order to get a DLC character for Killing floor, no wonder why they did that because I don't know who in the right mind would ever buy this. Need to edit config files for modern screen resolutions. Ridiculous spike pit puzzles that suck you into them and then make you re-do a bunch of crap just to get back (so much for save points).

A surprisingly fun puzzle game. It was easy to understand and I had a great time!

A nice game!!

This was a pleasant little surprise. It's as if classic PC game Heretic and classic arcade game Marble Madness had a child. Mostly puzzles, but with a bit of combat thrown in as well. I'm definitely going to check out the other games by this studio (Unmechanical, The Solus Project). This game is proof that dozens of abilities aren't required to make a good game, as well as a callback to the days when level design was king. The keybind screen is only one page long, without even any scrolling, and that's enough. -- THE GOOD -- - Uncomplicated mechanics - Clever, interesting level design - Sound effects - Good, logical problems with rules that are consistent (for the most part) -- THE BAD -- - POV is oddly close to the ground, making it seem as though the crouch command is constantly being pressed - Not sure if this is to do with widescreen, but the display has a somewhat fisheye effect at times - A couple instances where I had to resort to a walkthrough because I didn't know the mechanics of this game supported certain actions. For example, the fact that the hammer device does nothing to pots or crates lying around the map heavily implies that it works only …

kind of a ♥♥♥♥ puzzle game. it centers around just moving your ball to the next point, at which something completely arbitrary happens which allows you to progress. then they added "combat" for some reason and it's just not good
