Starbound

This game is hot trash, it is barely functioning, I cant get past the first moon base mission because the game freezes and boots out. Chucklefish really screwed the pooch on this one. This game could have been a great rival to Terraria but unfortunately the devs just gave up, like others have said it will likely take mods to run a stable version of the game... pissed I bought it and put so much time into checking it out, wish I could return it (to get my money back for this waste), was a great idea but horribly executed. better luck next time I will forever be suspicious of this studio.

A good game for exploring, building and collecting, a simple combat system that serves a purpose, and it is good for relaxing. There are also many mods to add or improve content or mechanics.

My playtime is carried by mods alone. That said, I can't really find any alternatives to Starbound's very sandboxy space vibes. People will say Terraria but its just not the same game. It's more like Minecraft in that sense where technically I can just do anything with it + mod it to my liking. Despite the history surrounding this game and its current abandonware state, I still find myself playing it every now and then. Would I recommend it to anyone? If they are the same person as I do then yeah. For the average gamer? It's a hard sell.

Honestly, kinda ♥♥♥♥.. and I held off for years before playing this. It's way waaaay to slow paced. Took 2 of my play time hours to find the resources to plant crops. But in that time I used all local food and starved to death.
