About Space Engineers
Design and build functioning spaceships, bases, and mining operations from individual blocks in a fully destructible sandbox where physics and engineering actually matter. Over a decade of free updates, thousands of community creations, and endless creative freedom make this the ultimate playground for aspiring space engineers.
Space Engineers uses a volumetric physics engine: every block and voxel has mass, inertia and damage. Ships break apart, stations crumble and terrain can be drilled, carved and reshaped, so your engineering choices really matter.
Space Engineers is grounded in real engineering and hard science fiction, driven by realism and plausible near-future technology. Think modern space programs extrapolated into the future: realistic ships, stations, tools and systems where everything is built and simulated block by block. It’s about the machinery you build, not about magic or scripted set-pieces.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Space Engineers is a deep sci-fi survival sandbox that excels in creative multiplayer experiences and offers hundreds of hours of content for players willing to invest in learning its systems. However, players are divided on whether the complexity is rewarding or frustrating, with common complaints about tedious grinding, obtuse mechanics like mandatory ramp-mining and multi-stage crafting for basic items, and a cluttered UI that many feel requires mods to become enjoyable.
10/10 shipspace game
very fun game especialy if you have a couple friends and play online. fair warning though it is a game with a bit of a learning cliff. but if your willing to watch some tutorials on youtube to get the basics down the game really opens up. ive got 500 hrs and i still learning new things. strongly recomend if your looking for a si-fi style survival
CINEMAAAAA ABSOLUTE CINEMAAAAAA
This game is not fun. You have to crouch to mine?!? Then you get stuck in the hole and have to mine your way out. Can't craft a ladder. Nope, you have to mine a ramp from the ground. To even make the game tolerable you need at least 10 mods (auto pickup ores, etc.)! Building a single wind turbine requires crafting 6 different types of materials (that you only get from refining ore) with the grand total of around 100 items...to make one wind turbine?!? The UI is cluttered and displays an overwhelming number of items that you CAN'T build. This has to be the dumbest concept for a survival/building came that I have ever played. The game is simply all grind (work), and no play (fun). I've enjoyed Satisfactory, Planet Crafter, Factorio ONI, etc. But Space Engineers is simply a complete fail and huge disappointment. It would take me 100 hours just to figure out how to play it. Complete waste of money! 1/10
Best played during class. ;)
Very solid (if often obtuse) sandbox with a healthy modding scene. Survival mode is often a bit tedious but manageable. Wish they made after-combat repairs more efficient and quick
