30XX

30XX takes the foundations of classic action platformers and reshapes them around the unpredictability and repeated progression of a modern roguelike. Developed and published by Batterystaple Games, it follows 20XX while significantly expanding the concept through randomized stages, distinct playable characters, cooperative multiplayer, persistent progression, and extensive customization. Instead of relying entirely on predetermined stages, the game constantly rearranges its challenges, creating an adventure where mechanical skill remains important but adaptability is equally essential. Set roughly a thousand years after the events of 20XX, the story begins with the heroes awakening in a radically transformed world. Humanity has changed following the arrival of the Synthetic Mind, and civilization has lost much of the ambition that once pushed it toward the stars. The planet has become an unexpectedly lush yet restrictive environment, leaving the protagonists to discover what happened during their long absence and determine what remains worth saving. Well, ask and you shall receive. Whether that was planned or if influenced, either way it seems what was mildly lacking in 20XX was changed. Now we got a proper full-blown EIGHT Stages with their own unique bosses, mid-bosses, and once again, a BANGIN' Soundtrack! I also love how Nina slimmed that clunky armor for something sleek and more aerodynamic. And a visor with her hair flowin'? How stunning! The pixel graphics are a gorgeous look, everything has taken the form of 20XX, improved it, polished it with a new glaze of work, it's a HUGE jump from the first to the next! I might have yet to properly beat this game but my goodness! I hope to see more like this!! Send some love to Cityfires for a BANGIN' OST again!!!

Fun Mega Man style Rogue-lite. Not much to say outside of if you like a challenge give it a go.

Honestly the soundtrack alone got me playing.

As of Patch 1.4 I really, really loved playing this game. It's like Dead Cells but Mega Man in many ways, lots and lots of fun to play with a friend, especially in shared-screen coop. It takes me back to playing Mega Man X as a kid but THAT was never coop. This game is a roguelike but ALSO has a traditional Megaman game mode called Megamode where you can retry levels in whatever order. I love the music and art and modern game design choices that make the game a bit less severe than classic Mega Man X (Spikes don't instakill now, thank God). However, you can ADD modifiers that make it way, way harder. Sincerely I enjoyed 20XX, the previous title, but I loved this game. I played MegaMan X when I was a kid a loved that game to death, recently I tried to replay it and it wasn't quite how I remembered. 30XX really helped rekindle my love for this kind of game. If you get to level 5, 5 times, you unlock Delta and he fights like Zero from the MegaMan Zero games, sword and buster. He's my favorite.
