What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
HOLE is a small extraction-style FPS with solid gunplay mechanics and an appealingly eerie atmosphere across its three maps that players find oddly addictive, though the limited content (three maps and four guns) and some rough mechanical edges leave some feeling it's too short and shallow. Players praise the unsettling art direction and tense extraction mechanics, but complaints center on the brevity of content and lack of meaningful weapon variety beyond one optimal configuration per gun.

Fun and Cheap, enough said.
It is indeed a casual and hard FPS. Funnily enough it starts out brutally hard and gets easier with unlocks. Content wise, on the shorter side of things. I've unlocked everything, played all the maps (and demo maps), Gun play is good, especially the shooting/spread, reloading/racking feels a bit rough at times, but I can't quite put my finger on why that is. Might just be the speed for some of the guns. I did really like the extraction mechanic, despite only extracting with money/data. It can be really tense, especially early game/after getting a data disk for the first time on a map and having no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea what's going on x3 Only three maps and four guns kinda sucks. IMO is "objectively" one "best" config for each gun, and no real reason to change it (except scope). I do yearn for a bit more enemy variety and map variety, but for $4 I can't really complain. 8.3/10. Worth a play. Excited to see what the devs do in the future.
The game works well and I am happy that you can disable the oldschool blocky graphics but it's just not fun at all.
This game is oddly addictive. HOLE is a small single-player extraction-style FPS where you explore creepy, liminal-looking maps, grab loot, and make it back to the exit before things get too dangerous. The art-style reminds me of the anime: High-Rise Invasion. The maps are probably my favorite part. There's only three, but the office, sewers, and apartment all have this weird uncanny feeling that makes exploring them genuinely unsettling. The gunplay is surprisingly good. Weapons can jam, you have to manually chamber a round after certain reloads, and overheating your gun makes jams more likely. There are only four weapons (pistol, assault-rifle, shotgun, and sniper rifle), but you can customize them with attachments, each with their own pros and cons. The game does have a learning curve. You die very quickly, even with upgrades, and sometimes the best strategy is simply to kick an enemy down and finish them before they can do the same to you. Not to mention, the longer you stay, the more difficult the game gets. More heavily armed enemies start showing up, and some strange creatures will attack everyone on sight. The different factions can even fight each other, which makes so…
