Ancient Battle: Rome lets you command diverse unit types including legionaries, cavalry, elephants, and siege weapons across 63 historically-inspired missions spanning Rome's greatest conflicts from Caesar's Gallic campaigns to clashes against Parthians and Germans. The game stands out by faithfully recreating iconic ancient battles like Alesia and Pharsalus while introducing regional unit variations like cataphracts and scythed chariots as you progress through different theaters of war.
Designed from the ground up Ancient Battle: Rome gives a unique wargaming experience. Use Roman legionaries, elephants, catapults, heavy and light cavalry, archers, slingers, fanatics and many other unit types to engage in classic battles.

Simple, tense, demands strategy, satisfying.
I still enjoy this game, remember to turn music off in the settings and play your own. It's a nice bit of simple strategic fun; it took me maybe 9 hours playtime to realise there is a hidden depth to the game. Play realistic and hardcore.
Another good old fashioned hex strategy game, based on the battles of the Roman empire. Three difficulty levels and plenty of battles to keep you happy. You can play either side too. Great.

Simple game, fast to learn and play. Plays like a traditional tabletop wargame.
Excellent mechanics, good range of scenarios (although a few are some what ""gimiicky'). Forgiven for late republic legionaries looking like early imperial.
