Space Moth DX

Vertical bullet-hell shoot 'em up with insects. Very much bullet hell as even smaller enemies spray you with bullets. Initially charming with the original theme and electronic music but it wears out its welcome when you realize by level 3 how tough and unforgiving this is. The music also becomes more repetitive by level 2. I thought I might push on through and see all the game with automated save states, despite losing the high score, but the problem with that is that you could easily load with no more lives and bombs, and then it's one-hit deaths for you. If you're still interested in that type of short and difficult game, you might want to get the Spacemoth Lunar edition on sale instead for a a slightly higher price.

Solid Shoot'em up. Fantastic vibs. crystal clear bullet colors and patterns, and somewhat beginner friendly. I like the save state system for practice and pushing forward for again, beginners, to more easially encourage trying that 1CC with long game in mind. Yeah, good one.

Space Moth DX is a really solid cute'em up, it has cute retro graphics and just enough unique mechanics to make the game interesting. I'm not the biggest SMUP fan in general, so I rarely stay with them, but I did play more of this one than I usually do. The tutorial at the start is minimal, but does give you all the info you need to sink your teeth into this game. Space Moth DX is priced fairly for what you get, and what you get is polished enough to recommend, even if I cant rave about the game. In genera this game is a very solid B tier, and as a general overall video game I'd put it in C tier overall.
