About Ayumi: Enhanced Edition

In a future not too far off, space travel has finally become ordinary and humanity seeks to exploit the infinite riches of the stars. Ayumi Sasaki and her family are part of such a mining spaceship, heading to a distant star to mine gold. When the lights go out though, Ayumi wakes up to find the spaceship crawling with monsters, blood covering everything. Help her survive as she explores a world covered in darkness!

The game is heavily based on the Lovecraftian Mythos (yellow mythos specifically), though knowledge of it is not required to enjoy it.

Features:
  • A dark, moody environment for you to explore, inspired by a combination of Mad Father and Dead Space.
  • Tons of secrets hidden all over the spaceship, waiting for you to discover them.
  • Dangerous monsters lingering in every corner.
  • Chilling sound effects!
  • A dark, dark narrative, all from a child's point of view.
  • Cthulhu Mythos horror! (Yellow Mythos specifically)
  • Two difficulties, "normal" and "nightmare", unlocking different endings and allowing access to different areas.
  • Multiple solutions to most problems.
  • Careful credits (currency) management required, as credits are used both to resurrect the player and activate/access various items or the spaceship's security mechs.

Version 3.0 Updates! (6/20/18)
-Dynamic lighting!
-Flashlight system changed!

Short horror game in which the only weapons you have is your ability to run and staying away from monsters. You take the role of Ayumi, a young girl living on a space station. There is very little information regarding the game's environment or the station's mission. When you start the game in the cafeteria, most individuals chat about everyday issues and problems. You don't have much time to find out more anyhow because the station goes dark a few minutes into the game. Your task is to figure out what is going on. Right away, you see blood splatters and strange creatures. The light/darkness concept helps to create a surprisingly good atmosphere. Except for the occasional flickering light, the only consistent source of light comes from you. However, while you can see everything in a big room, dark vents may only allow you to see one step ahead. The light also does not go around corners, so you may encounter some surprises. Despite its appearance as an old-school RPG, this is actually an adventure/survival game. You will not need to deal with any equipment, stuff, or leveling up. All you can do is run around and interact with items. You are still urged to interact with everything…

A nice little RPGmaker horror game. A bit on the easy side (even played on Nightmare difficulty). Excels in SFX usage, writing, setting, and the main character's comments on everything you interact with. Though would have liked Ayumi's actions to have had more of an impact to the story... And more dangerous obstacles on Nightmare that challenge me to survive. (I was able to cheese or sprint my way most of the time.) Quite forgiving. That said, I think this makes a worthy addition to rpgmaker horror. Can't get enough! And not many cheap deaths and scares. Also, there seems to be talk of future updates with enhanced graphics, some voicing and such. I'm looking forward to revisiting then!

A good little RPGmaker horror game; fairly short and not exactly scary, but has a fun and engaging atmosphere to explore. I definitely thought the music and commentary from the protagonist brought the experience from just good to actively fun. I recommend it if you got a few bucks to spare for a 1-3hr underrated game.

Ayumi is a very peculiar RPG Maker game. It isn't a rpg, but a very atmosferic and mistery driven survivor horror. You play as Ayumi, a child looking for her family during a black out in a spaceship. Her options to deal with menaces are the same of other kids: running away or crawling in a tight space. What really made game good is how they set the mood: Visibility is very limited, only to a short radius around your character. The soundtrack will make you feel from slightly uneasy to full paranoid. Story is told by various pieces and hints scattered and hidden through out the game. The weak point of the game is the menu, which you can't access during gameplay. Overall is good mix of horror and mistery. 7/10.

If you like horror and rpgmaker this is your cup of tea. Also, while the orginal game is still here, they did clean up alot of the chase and puzzles so it overall is a much smoother experience (and doesn't detract from the atmosphere).
