About Demonheart

✦ AI summary

Demonheart follows Bright, a young woman drawn into a world of dark intrigue and supernatural forces, as she navigates complex relationships with a mysterious witch, scheming apprentices, and morally grey love interests while a demon whispers in her mind. With over 100,000 words of dialogue, branching choices that shape your moral alignment across two scales, and multiple romance paths ranging from tender to twisted, it's a story-driven experience where your decisions genuinely define who Bright becomes.

  • Female protagonist.
  • Over 100.000 words of conversations and hundreds of dialog choices.
  • Friendships, romances or love-hate relationships.
  • Custom alignment system measured by two scales: Good/Evil and Tactful/Defiant.
  • A journal that gets filled with world lore.
  • Intrigue and betrayal.
  • A demon talking in your head.
  • Selected lines are voiced over.
Bright is a young woman from a small, peaceful town. Dark times have come for her family, but luckily, she has the favor of the famous healer-witch Orchid. Benevolent, calm and beloved by all, Orchid hides dark secrets that Bright begins to uncover.Bright is drawn into a world of darkness and treachery. It seems she can never be alone again - for a powerful demonic presence has taken an interest in her activities, and his voice enters her mind at the most inappropriate times. There are also others who play a significant role in Bright's new life... Ari, a young apprentice witch seduced by bad influences. She tries to be friendly, even though she knows Bright is meant to be her enemy... or is she? And Sir Brash, a notorious evil knight who develops a soft spot for Bright, but has a rather special way of showing affection."Where are the games with dark storytelling and evil men, and why is it taboo for women to fantasize about them? Demonheart wisely accommodates this void with a cast of evil love interests and a thought-provoking dark narrative."- ReMeDy
"There's a certain level of role play involved in playing visual novels - I want to make their personality how I imagine, and choose responses I want, instead of being forced to make what the game developer wanted. Demonheart is masterful at this."- pinky
"A visual novel that you will never forget and that will make you return to it again and again to explore all the choices, to see all the scenes and to love, hate and desire."

[Spoilers throughout] Since many of the negative reviews mainly complain about the toxic and unlikable characters, I think it would be good to address my issues with those (i.e. both the characters and the complaints about them) first. Now, I do think the game should have appropriate flags and/or a more detailed description so players know what to expect, but I found the actual content, despite its pervasiveness, both mild and unengaging due to the poor execution. The main issue is Sir Brash (top notch naming btw), who, from the moment he appears on screen, constantly belittles, insults and sexually harasses you, in addition to very overtly stating that he's looking forward to raping you later. As bad as that may sound (and would be to experience in person), his dialogue is so ridiculously over the top and forcefully edgy that he sounds more like a bad comedian trying to be offensive rather than an actual threat, which, ironically, is supported by the fact that avoiding him is actually very easy if you're simply polite and deferential. The first time he wants to drag you into the woods, you can just say "Sir, please let go of me." firmly, and he'll respect it, which is quite comi…

Bad game design for a mostly linear romance VN. Game essentially forces you to replay last chapter of the game, if you made "wrong" choices earlier in the chapter. Coupled with janky game engine and non existence of proper walktroughs, it makes finishing a simple VN a chore. Thumb down.

Remember playing this game 6 years ago and it was pretty solid novel with quite alright visuals. I replayed it today once more with "Good" alignment to get Alternate Universe achievement. Story is quite extensive as even when I was skipping as much dialogue as I could, today's run took me 3,5 hours.

I really liked the D&D feel of this game; the ability to forge the main character's personality based on 4 criteria is interesting and unusual, many different reply options, versatile and inclusive to any playing style, much better than making me play as an MC whom I don't relate to. Many replies were quite funny. Music was great, plot was interesting, I liked the length but felt like the ending was rushed. a bit unfulfilling? especially Brash's. I can see that the story was carefully crafted and options actually affects how the story goes, so it is not an "illusion of choice" game. I would say I struggled with the save and load, why do I need to name the save file?? I ended up with a bunch of gibberish named files lol, this should be optional. I also would have loved an option to quick load and quick save, ESPECIALLY for this game. since it has many different choices, I would wanna try out some other than the ones I would actually choose. The Skip option could've been better, rather than appearing and disappearing, based on whether or not I've seen certain lines, an option to skip which I can press any time and would get everything skipped unless I haven't read it is ver…

One of the best video games I've ever played/read. Finally, you could be an evil girl too. Unfortunately, there aren't many games like this with evil Female protagonist. I was hoping that in Cursed Trials I'd have similar freedom to make evil decisions and the option to kill or not kill other participants. Here, you really feel like you're an evil character who manipulates others to survive or not, if you want to be an angel, you have that option too. However, I liked Hunters more. In that game, not only is there a lot of freedom to be evil or good, but the protagonist has grown stronger, which makes it even more fun. I love Bright, and I hope we'll see a continuation of her adventures someday. Although I understand it's difficult due to the numerous decisions made in the previous two games. So the author would either have to opt for a canon ending or work hard to give players the freedom to make their own choices, which becomes increasingly difficult with subsequent sequels.

I regret buying this and I regret playing this. I don't know if the later additions in this series are good or not, but this one is not worth it, especially when there's so much visual novels out there. The plot and worldbuilding was extremely basic so there was nothing exciting there. The characters also weren't really likable so it doesn't work as a romance story either. This game/novel is by no means a piece of trash, but it's hard to justify spending time and money on this when other far better VNs exist.
